My 7th bottle of this vintage. PNP. Ripe fruit, sweet chocolate finish, great mouthfeel. Wonderful wine. — a month ago

Lazy Bones Paso Robles Cabernet Franc 2023

Yum! Great cab franc from Trader Joes (not necessarily a "great" Cab Franc but great in that it's from TJ and really really good) — 7 months ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2001

Medium gold color. Heavy in the glass like oil. Killer nose. Notes of ripe apricot, tan spice, sea breeze, cardamom, some chalky limestone soil and sea shells. Rich and silky in the mouth. Light and not too heavy. Long finish. In a great spot. — 4 years ago

Valmur Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2000

Decanted for 3 hours, for a dinner that didn’t play out, so stopped and stored overnight in a fridge. Took to sunset gathering next night and, wow, this was singing a magical Raveneau song. Medium gold, heavy in the glass. Killer nose. Notes of a cool sea breeze, sea shells, white stone, apricot and citrus, some tan spice and a dollop of honey. Really big and powerful impact in the mouth. Long finish. This juice used its long aeration to show its very best. Give it air if you drink now. Will likely hold in this position for a long time to come. — 4 years ago

A unique wine. Vibrant golden hue, reductive aroma combined with a variety of ripe orchard fruits, saline breeze, pineapple, wet stone. Palate with high acidity, a lingering tannic grip, stony minerality, apple, pear, fresh almonds. I drink the current vintage (which happens to be 2012 this year) with my wife once per year, and have for the last 5 years. Nostalgic. — a year ago

Sounds really cool!

@Ron R I would try it at least once; not a profile that will resonate with everyone, but super classic and old school. Offers a unique experience; it is a wine that if blinded to color, could be mistaken for a red wine

Wow, that’s interesting. You have certainly got my attention on this. Cheers!

Lazy Susan Ranch

Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

The Vineyardist 2nd label.
This one surprised me by how much air it needed to open up. Had a splash on day 1 and immediately corked it back up for a day 2 decant. Definitely not an over extracted Cabernet just to please the masses. My ratings might be higher than others but I work these wines to get the best out of them.

Interesting note I found-

The Vineyardist is a Diamond Mountain property with a long history. In the late 19th century it was purchased by a Dutch shipping captain who planted vineyards and made wine. During prohibition the vineyards were replaced with nut and prune orchards. In 2000 the property was purchased by Dirk Fulton and Becky Kukkola, who began replanting some of the 80 acres to vineyards.

I am a big fan of their main label (and argue it’s one of the most beautiful visits in the valley). Prices have gone out of my range but always enjoy the wines.

Quite a few on winebid tomorrow, I didn’t realize they have more than just one main high end label now.

Vincent Dauvissat

La Forest Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2021

For Dauvissat, I consistently find Forest to drink just as well as the Grand Cru’s. 2021 is perfect, already showing great complexity and it’s incredible how much weight it puts on in the decanter. Perfect pairing with so much of the Lazy Bear menu. — 8 months ago

Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 1989

Day 2 of WineBoyz Wineapalooza. We move to Pebble Beach the next day, where a spectacular lineup has been assembled. Tasted blind. Medium gold color. High-pitched nose. Notes of citrus, pineapple, tan spice, some honey and some sea breeze and sea shell. Rich and powerful in the mouth. Got better and better as we went back to it multiple times during the day. Guessed 90 Raveneau Clos. — 4 years ago
