Terre di Talamo – Vento Vermentino 2024
Toscana IGT, Maremma – Italy 🇮🇹
Overview
Crafted from organically grown Vermentino, this white reflects the Tuscan coast’s maritime influence. The IGT classification allows the estate flexibility while still showcasing the grape’s tension and vibrancy from Maremma’s sun-drenched vineyards.
Aromas & Flavors
Enticing notes of white peach, broom flowers, and a saline iodine edge mix with ripe tropical fruit—mango and papaya. It feels Mediterranean to its core, with both floral charm and coastal freshness.
Mouthfeel
Vibrant and tense, marked by crisp acidity and a light, tingling texture that keeps it energetic. The finish is silky and elegant, with a mineral snap that invites another sip.
Food Pairing
Perfect alongside grilled shrimp, seafood pasta, or even a tomato-based fish stew. Its brightness also makes it an easy pairing for mozzarella-based salads.
Verdict
A lively Tuscan white that proves Vermentino shines under the IGT umbrella. Clean, crisp, and expressive, it’s both refreshing and distinctive—ideal for warm-weather sipping. Cheers! — 6 months ago
Vivid clear, color and tight, concentrated fruit. Cherries and plums and juiciness. Very delicious, but also seem to fade very quickly and it’s flavor. Corked it for a day and a half and came back to something that was quite quickly on its way out and had become round and just grape juicy. Maybe that’s on me for leaving it. — 3 months ago
2nd time I've had this. Every wine gets a higher score at Christmas. This is a stern Barolo, uptight after 4 hours of air. Yummy, though, and pleasant to sip slowly next to the fireplace. Cherry cola, raspberries, roses, serious leathery tannins. It's a 6 year old Barolo, and that's what it tastes like.

2021 vintage. QPR off the charts. $13.43 a bottle resto cost. Ridiculously good at that price. Medium body with spice, fruit and structure. Too inexpensive for me to exploit but perhaps someone else can? If I see this in the wild, pouncing on all fours. 04.09.25. — a year ago
White peach, lemon zest and stone fruits on the nose. Medium sweet on entry, medium high acidity. Good finish. A lovely wine. — 3 months ago

🍷 Personal Pick Highlight
This is my kind of casual white, zippy, floral, and refreshing. A go-to Vermentino for relaxed meals and warm days, with just enough character to keep things interesting. — 3 months ago
Seems like a great classic representation of a Chianti. Cherry, Dusty, various baking spices. Interesting enough when it first opened there is definitely a caramel or a burnt sugar going on there, but it faded within the first 5 to 10 minutes. After that it settled down to Fruit forward without any bad tannins or anything else, but still not flabby. Delicious and went very well with our pasta. — 9 months ago

These are recalled impressions, not contemporaneous notes, from two nights ago, when the family council of elders met for a steak/wine pairing event at my brother Angelo’s house.
I love this style of Brunello. Great balance of deep cherry fruit and terra cotta earthiness. Tannins resolving. Went especially well with the steak that was grilled with garlic and rosemary. — 3 months ago
