Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three days. Consistent throughout. The 2016 pours a deep garnet/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of cassis, plum, purple flowers, graphite, and a combination of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. I think this is my first experience with the second wine of Chateau Lagrange. Went well with my burger. Plenty of life left in it. Drink now through 2036. — 14 days ago

Another delicious rendition of the “Chateau Lagrange Blanc.” Beautiful fragrance seemingly melds a little herbal, gooseberryish SB with characteristic lanolin and orchard fruit Semillon notes (I have no idea what the blend is here.) Deep, lovely, soft minerality too. Impeccable balance in the mouth. Nice but gentle acids keep the deep, long, dry palate fresh. Such a great value too. — a year ago

Medium ruby garnet , with quite thin light garnet rim . Quite open and lively , with spicy hedgerow fruit , touches of tobacco, some floral hints too , quite charming . On the palate this is quite lean , with more of those red plum , raspberry notes , lightly herbal touches. However this fills out quite well on the mid palate . Quite fresh acidity , and delicate tannins . Reasonable herbal tinged red fruit finish . This is showing well , with a suave red fruit, herbal tinged personality . It’s funny how the least promising bottles can surprise you. This was purchased for $15 a decade ago and forgotten about out in the cellar. Decanted off the sediment now, it’s alive and enjoyable, elegant in its own rustic way. Lively black currant and black pepper nose, some fresh green pepper, spice, good acid, surprising complexity and a really nice silky texture through the palate.
