Very tasty Barbera with some tanins, but not overwhelming. Had it with pasta and this worked very well. Usually not a big fan of Barbera, but this one stands out. — a year ago
Continuing my Italian loves. Arrow wine suggestion. Excellent, easy drinker. — 5 years ago
Pian Dell’Orino Vigneti del Versante Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2014: Smooth & elegant. Lively acidity. Medium tannins. Nice cherry bouquet. Red fruits. Leather. Herbs. Earth. Powerful long finish. All in all, I love this Brunello! Call me a creature of habit but this is my happy place. Grilled marinated skirt steak and a bottle of Brunello! Great weekend to all! Cheers🍷 — 5 years ago
One of the best Chianti I tried despite being relatively cheap. — 6 years ago
2021 vintage. Last tasted 3.25.26 (9.0). Liked this time even less. Not feeling this vintage. 4.29.26. — 2 months ago
Montevertine's Pian del Ciampolo blend is 90% Sangiovese, rest with equal amounts of Canaiolo and Colorino, deep Ruby with purple hues, aromas of red fruits, floral, herbs and smoky oak. On the palate flavors of cherry and currants with dried herb notes, cacao and tobacco notes. Fine ripe sweet tannins, long finish ending with fruit and an earthy herb spice character. Nice! — 5 months ago

I usually don’t bother to report on the cork, but the cork in this bottle was stained a deep purple – almost black. I sniffed it and the intensity of its bouquet told me that this wine would be luscious. Herbal (sage & oregano) with a hint of rich umami solidity (almost like bacon). All from a cork! In a glass, the nose is less intense. Oregano and sage dominate. The “meatiness” of cork scent fades way back. Fruit forward without being syrupy — black cherries. Medium tannic structure, with hints of dark chocolate at the lower end of the spectrum balanced by a pleasing earthy minerality in the high notes. Unfortunately, the finish fades quickly. If this wine had a long finished, I’d probably give it at 9.8, but as it is a 9.5 will have to suffice. — 3 days ago
