Gorgeous light ruby in the glass with glints of purple and blue. Cranberry, strawberry, grapefruit and orange peel, and rhubarb, with the faintest hint of walnut on the finish. I adore this winery. A whopping 50 cases of this wine were produced. 11.5% abv. — 7 months ago
Ruby red, cedar, crushed dried roses, earthy earthy like mushrooms, cherry glaze.
Wine just wakes me right up!
Mmmm jammy, delicious, spice component with cinnamon and red pepper kick. Well-balanced acidity, harmonious sips, really playin up the medium body.
Lovely. Good find at Frankly in Tribeca!
Perfect to watch The Sopranos with (apparently Schioppettino translates to gunshot). I mean come on… — 4 years ago
2013. Very good. Smooth full bodied. — 5 years ago
This was actually a Merlot. Favorite merlot I’ve had. — 7 years ago
Perfect with cacio e pepe — a year ago
ahhhh, after a recent subpar Schiopettino, i had to go out and find another one: this was fantastic - textbook dark fruit and peppery goodness, some fig compote, licorice, vanillin along with earthy elements, just tons of complexity, well made balanced w/impressive length on finish — a year ago
The 2019 Schioppettino is remarkably pretty and floral, with violets and roses complementing its wild red berries and hints of smoke. This is soft-textured and lifted in feel, yet also packed full of fleshy raspberry fruit, as exotic spices build within. It leaves a tinge of sour citrus while finishing lightly structured and with a staining like liquid lavender. Lovers of Schioppettino will fall head over heels for the 2019. Schioppettino. Rustic, earthy funkiness. Blackberries, citrus pith, white pepper, brambles. Apparently rare in the US, from Fermented Grapes. — 6 years ago

Light to medium bodied wine, pale burgundy with amber hues to the edges. Barnyard funky nose, hay, muddy earth, with hints of black cherry, fermented black plum, and some velvety vanilla notes, maybe even some beach dried seaweed. Palate is VERY fruit forward, silky, with ripe fresh strawberry all over, some wild funkiness, slight brandy hints, with some angelfood cake crust like flavors, olive oil, black olives and tar, really complex, loooong and different. — 8 months ago
New producer to me
Apparently he has been a benchmark for pignolo and schioppettino for a long time
Wine style is big
Wines get released after many years depending when he thinks they are ready
The schioppettino gave me the best impression
Fruit, spices(coriander seeds and white pepper) and a bit of incense
You keep swirling you will get more and more
Very long
Hard to find and a bit pricey — 3 years ago

A stately, well-structured red from Friuli. This one had the maturity and mellow character of a wine almost a decade old. The tannins, though no doubt softened over the years, provided enough structure to allow this schioppettino to continue ageing, even if only for a couple more years. Blueberries and vanilla were present on the nose, whereas the palate presented flavors of prunes, raisins, plums, and a hint of tobacco. Very happy to have procured this bottle; it was a great pairing for our Easter leg of lamb! 100% Schioppettino. 4/17/22. — 5 years ago
No oak influence. Not a complex wine, but pleasing medium bodied mouth watering cherry and lots of pepper. Enjoyed this. — 6 years ago

Deep burgundy, rouge/purple hue with an expressive nose of ripe red and purple fruit, with notes of vanilla, and slightly herbal notes in the background, like herbs de Provence and plum. Medium bodied, with both spice and peppery notes, very light tannin, and a dry red fruit freshness that ends very cleanly. Really solid juice. — 24 days ago
