So perfumed, an absolute explosion on the nose. Lots of vanilla and nuts. — 7 years ago
1997 Tenuta Dell'Ornellaia Masseto MLA Merlot. Drank at DR concert. This followed the 1986 Margaux. Definitely much bigger, just massive. Concentrated dark fruit, balanced with a nice earthiness. Despite its (relatively) intense structure, this wine drank beautifully, with a smooth, long finish. — 10 years ago
Actually a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (53%), Vermentino (37%), Viognier (7%) and Semmillon (3%). Light golden color. Aromas of orchard fruit, citrus and smoky chalk dust. Flavors of white peach, apricot, yellow and green apple, tangerine and fresh herbs. Touch of mint on the long and crisp finish. Bright acidity, medium body and sharp focus. Outstanding complexity and dimension. Interesting, unusual and brilliant Italian white! Thank you so much for sharing, Petey! — a month ago
Opened at least an hour prior to service. 100% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2016 pours bright straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of fresh tropical and stone fruit: passion fruit, peach, white flowers, minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and steely. I live this with the uovo in camicia. Drink now through 2031. — 6 months ago
8 years vintage. Concentrated and smooth. Black fruits. CP quite good!

Rich nose shows moist humus, toasted brown bread, rich dark berry fruit, sandstoney gravel. Dark and concentrated on the palate. Rich flavors show dark minerals, dark chocolate, graphite, but not a lot of fruit per se. lengthy finish has a lot of tannin. This could go for several more years but is very nice now. — 4 years ago
fun bottle - will be great in 5 years. nice pre-ripe black currant on the finish — a month ago
1st ever Masseto, magnum ‘98 , Urbanus! — 7 months ago
Dark Ruby with aromas of earthy ripe black and red berries with slight note of cacao and woody spice. On the palate flavors of ripe, juicy fruit with oak, tobacco, leather and peppery-spicy tones, dense and persistent, firm tightly wound tannins need to integrate with oak. Long finish, complex ending with juicy sweet fruit and toasty notes. Must mature! — 6 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Medium Ruby red color with berry fruit, fragrant spice and earthy floral notes, blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, aged for 10 months on used oak. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry, and tobacco with notes of herb pepper spice and tangy mineral feel. Fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with tobacco and cacao wrapped in an earthy spice character. Will age a bit! — 19 days ago
