Eleven Confessions Vineyard Estate Syrah 2018

2018 vintage. Medium body. Lightest bodied-white or red-I've ever had from SQN. That said, still waay too much to love afoot. Interesting with this wine retaining the SQN style without emphasizing/doubling down on the more overt tendencies that the winery is known for. The exception that proves the rule. A mere baby and there's nothing that another 7-8 years wouldn't improve. 04.09.25. — a month ago

Not all wines are made the same. Saxum, Andremily, and others are made in a similar style (even some CdPs, Cote Rotie’s) but don’t get the same comments.

We’ll agree mostly but. One needs to still look 👀 at these as a Somm at a major restaurant.

@Shay A You know I have been buying & enjoying Saxum for many years, not one vintage of Saxum has ever shown hot alcohol period or the way SQN does. Justin knows how to ferment alcohol in a way SQN does not care to. I have studied w/ 7 Master Somm’s for months & months before passing my Sommelier exam. They have on many occasions have referred to hot alcohol as a wine flaw and I have never disagreed w/ that statement. But I love 80’s Bordeaux’s at 12-12.5%. It is the modern wine drinker that appreciates high alcohol because there is a fair amount out there to consume. It is this that has defined the modern wheelhouse. It is what modern consumers have come to know and has created a palate preference or comfort. Cheers!

Subir Eleven Confessions Syrah 2016

+3 hour decant(some cloudy sediment). A striking deep purplish magenta color. On the nose: subdued notes of black fruit, leather, smoked meat, floral, cloves. Taste: smooth, rich, lush, balanced wine with blackberry, graphite, charred meat, saline, pepper, and a minerally dark chocolate espresso long finish. YUM! — 5 months ago

Rattrapante Eleven Confessions Estate Grenache

2012 Sine Qua Non Rattrapante Estate Grenache. First night of Gail’s BD trip enjoyed at girl and the fig in Sonoma. Outshined the unusual light rain on the patio. Glad they are open Monday’s as not much is. This wine went very well with the food. Perfect match for my duck liver pate and duck confit and Gail’s asparagus soup and chicken thighs. — 2 years ago
