San Andreas Fault Pinot Noir 2022

13.2%. A perpetual favorite. This vintage seems more fruit driven compared to previous renditions. Quite dark. Cherries, raspberries, cranberries and some tea notes, well integrated tannins and dare I say “smooth” mouthfeel. Sadly/unfortunately in a different prize range compared to a decade ago. 75$ or so. Seems high to me. — 21 days ago

Camille Braun

Crémant d'Alsace Méthode Traditionnelle Brut Pinot Noir Rosé

The holidays put us in the mood for something delicious, vibrant, and festive. Something bubbly. Tonight, to match the mood, we’re popping this gorgeous pale pink-salmon Crémant d’Alsace produced by Domaine Camille Braun.

It is a rosé from Alsace made with 100% Pinot Noir, the only permitted black grape variety in this region. It comes from organic and biodynamic vineyards in and around the Village of Orschwihr.

Domaine Camille Braun is a family-run operation with roots dating back to the 1500s. Today Christophe and Chantal – a husband and wife team – are carrying forward the family legacy by making expressive wines from the beautiful terroir of Alsace.

This wine offers bright notes of raspberry, cranberry, red apple, lemon curd, dried pink rose, toasted almond, brioche, and wet stones with fine-beaded, persistent bubbles.

Cheers to delicious wines for the holidays!

Grapefruit is good. But with some honeydew melon in there. Lovely. Long finish. 2023 — 4 days ago

Astonishing how much acidity this has and how fresh it is. Unreal electricity from a so called low acid grape. Andreas Laible says this is a 25+ year wine. Insane structure. Unreal length. Superstar. Nose is pineapple, peach, some elegant VA but the palate is just insane. The quality is through the roof. It’s like 10% Rococo and 90% Laible. What a wine. — a month ago

Achat Riesling 2022

So strong and upfront is the nose that calling it a bouquet is an insult; as other notes here attest, hugely floral with all kinds of lime & cardamon accents. On palate quite broad yet detailed, a really interesting blend. — a year ago

Stollenberg Großes Gewächs Erste Lage Riesling 2021

Needs an hour of air. Becomes magnificent at that point.

N: white flowers and lemon floor wax. A hint of Passion fruit with air.

P: sweet lemon. Hint of apricot. Mineral. Laible brightness. Not as mineral as the Klingelberger. Very good density. Amazing deliciousness. Long. A great drink.

What a glorious vintage of this wine. Nose is rich and floral but also has a dense shape that you can really smell. Like a trapezoid. Unreal minerals, some hints of weird citrus like tangelo, kumquat, pink grapefruit but also melon, spice, and so much more. Insanely complex. Stunning! 9.7 nose. Palate is just instant devastation. Rich, juicy and bursting with citrus and apricot fruit and so so pure. Unreal salinity, sapidity and density. Coats the palate. So long and satin-like texture. Unreal fruit here and there is a ripe sweetness here that is very uncommon for this wine but takes it to the next level. Genius! — 2 months ago
