Nice fruity (green apples) in this vintage.
Herby fresh & mineral.
Linear, steely, firm on the palate - with a splash of green apple juice and herby characters. Plus the rocky minerality and a saline finish. So food friendly. — 4 years ago
Wow, an absolutely glorious btl of wine. On the.nose: soft cola, blueberry, wild strawberry, a hint of young coconut, fantastic spice, freshly cut savory herbs...stunning nose. On the palate: fantastic acidity, crushed herbs, wild strawberry, crushed seeds, spice...soft tannin on the fantastically elegant finish. Young, but so much complexity and elegance. Unbelievably good. — 5 years ago

Like a Burgh - no difference. Franken Pinot (FP). Schlepped this all the way from this super remote winery my 2nd bottle. Stumbled onto this wine because Jancis Robinson recommended this (after all she used to be the Sommelier of the Queen of England). Suitcase import. 13.5% world class - really. Roses on the nose. In the glass faint cherries, blackberries, elderberry (just bought a plant we used to make jam), red currants. Back palate hard to define Za'atar (the plant) - Screw Cap (a strange choice for such quality juice). I know this wine is inaccessible for most folks on this website - sorry. But Franken is a very interesting wine region. The soil is by the way limestone - so it is classic for Pinot. I walked the vineyards - very off the beaten path - even for Germany. — 8 months ago
Pop and pour. The nose...just enrapturing. Soft coffee and coconut notes, bright raspberry, ripe wild strawberry, herbal notes, savory notes...amazing complexity. On the palate, lovely acidity, a touch of bitter medicine, earth and tree bark, then red raspberry, pepper. Medium bodied, and soft but very finely grained tannin on the finish. My best bottle so far. — 6 years ago
Lemons, mineralogy, cider, green apples. Super floral on the nose and long finish. Some tannin and med plus acidity. If you’re tired of regular ries this is your boy. — 7 years ago
Very Burgundy in style with strawberries & cream + a touch of herbs. Nice mouthfeel with polished tannins and red fruit, juicy acidity. Very nice balance with a lingering finish. This is much bette than expected, Pommard Village quality for a fraction of the price. — 7 years ago
Medium light garnet , wide garnet rim . Quite open from the off , red cherry , rose , red currant , raspberry , a touch of smoky oak, after a while a little deeper fruit . On the palate this has quite sweet strawberry , raspberry , red currant but with good acidity , rounded on the palate but with quite gritty tannins , with saline hints on the spiced cherry tinged finish . This is still pretty young and needs a little more time , maybe 2-4 more years , and will last a further 5-8. — 9 months ago
— a year ago
A darker Pinot with a bit more punch. Needs to breath a bit and then shows dark cherry with a raspberry whiff, a hint of kirsch, some nicely integrated spice woody aromas. Enticing.
On the palate this is so smooth, velvety, with a nice round mouthfeel and so fine tannins. Impeccably balanced and is drinking so nicely right now.
This is really fine. — 4 years ago
Shouldn’t we rate more wines on drinkability? I’d enjoyed a glass or two of other wines over dinner and then opened this as a reliable partner for the evening. I’m now finishing the bottle. On my own 🙁 /😋 Yes the Germans haven’t caught burgundy up but this still is a satisfying pinot at an affordable price. It’s fairly light on its feet, carries a twist of spice and is more savoury than new world pinot pretenders. Mission accomplished. — 5 years ago
Good nose, fairly sharp on the palate, maybe needs time to open up. Out of a magnum. Very well matched to confit neck of lamb. — 7 years ago
Allo! You are a jar of pickles and I am hungry at midnight. You are so slightly sandy do you have skin contact? Goodnight let me dream now. — 7 years ago
