Vau-Ligneau Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2021

This bottle presents itself in a much better way than the last one I had 5 months ago. I suspect that the previous went into early premox. The nose is unmistakably chablis: chalk, crushed rock, hay, a bit of lemon, a bit of pear and a tiny salty thing. The palate shows a laser beam of an acid drive, some width, some peary and lemony notes all along, some grip in the rear, a long lemony, peary finish, with some salty touches, a tiny zesty, almost bitter note blossoms in the rear. It's helping very well with that Chablis itch I was feeling lately. — 12 days ago

Amazing descriptors Daniel. Chablis 1er Cru is always a treat. Even standard or petit Chablis never disappoints. Great stuff!

Thank you for your comment,Freddy! Living abroad, Chablis is one of these things that remind me of home instantly, along with cheese. Sometimes you need to get a fix !

Château Petit Bocq

St. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

2022 vintage. A relatively new estate ( first vintage 1972, and bought in 1993 by Belgian MD Gaëtan Lagneaux, who sadly passed away at the age of 50 in 2012). His son Adrien has directed the estate ever since, and I believe his father would have been proud of him tasting this 2022. I don't know the exact blend for this vintage, but the vineyard is planted with 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot. A little less colour compared to Coutelin-Merville tasted alongside , but more refined in both nose and taste. Abv. 13,5 %.

Les Rocailles Chignin Bergeron Roussanne

The 2nd glass of wine we had in the degustation we had with Byron Hewett and his wife Paulina. This was 100% Roussanne from the Savoie region. I recall it being textural and minerally. A note of pear. Either 2021 or 2022, I can’t recall. I don’t believe the producer was Pierre Boniface - more likely Domaine Adrien Berlioz. — a year ago

More malolactic than citric acid but lovely nonetheless. Paired very well with shrimp scampi. — 6 months ago
