Cécile Chassagne

Jean Noel Gagnard

Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 2009

Medium deep lemon yellow , showing a bit of age but not unduly so . On the nose this is quite rich and ripe , some apricot , lemon peel , melted butter , sea breeze and toasted hazelnuts . On the palate this also shows that richness , with ripe yellow fruits , peach , citrus peel and toasty hazelnut . This has just enough acidity along with balanced alcohol , though quite weighty and rich in style it is also balanced by its sheer extract and intensity . Good length with toasty , yellow fruit tinged finish . Quite a rich , generous Batard , though it is overall well balanced and starting to show very well , no rush here but it’s probably in its prime drinking window . From now and over the next 5 -8 years perhaps . — 8 hours ago

Clos de la Truffière Les Chaumées Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2020

2020 vintage. Slightly underwhelming with a lack of personality on the finish. The meet and greet with the canapés and cocktails on the initial and mid-palates were definitely covered tho. 4.18.26. — 3 months ago

Chassagne-Montrachet Chardonnay 2022

2022 vintage. Last tasted 9.10.25 (9.3). Staff Burgundy tasting. Still gratuitous. Still tangy and bangy. Quintessential toxic relationship in a bottle. Medium/medium-heavy body. 2.17.26. — 5 months ago

If that’s a toxic relationship then maybe I’ve unnecessarily avoided them my whole life . . .

Domaine Marc Morey & Fils

En Virondot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2022

2022 vintage. Medium-medium heavy body. Slightly less acidity than the same vintage Chenevottes and Verges Prem Cru offerings and an unctuous hint/suggestion or two. Big and varied citrus oils, ginger, pear, rain day gravel. A tad waxy as it warms up. Some oak but it never dominates...only gently elevates. Yet another 2022 vintage winner from Marc Morey. 3.9.26. — 4 months ago

Les Caillerets Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2011

It’s no secret PYCM made incredible 11’s. Les Caillerets couldn’t have shown better tonight, fully open and giving wafting from the glass with layers of white peach, toasted hazelnut and pastry cream. The palate is impeccably refined, elegant, pure and chiseled with racy lemony acids, superb weight for the vintage and a long stony mineral inflicted finale. Excellent, and still quite young. — 8 months ago
