Central Coast Syrah

Tensley

Colson Canyon Vineyard Syrah 2008

Rich red fruits, despite the 15% ABV, this smells and tastes like a cool climate Syrah (my vague recollection was that 2008 was a cooler year, though this vineyard usually produces the ripest and most high-octane Syrah in the Tensley stable), nice balance, lingering finish, very fine!’ — 10 days ago

Great, thanks a lot for the feedback!!! I will check for the other references but I must admit that US wines are not that much available in Belgium. However, Ravenswood is sold at my local wineshop though

@Anthony De Blasi, you say Ravenswood is sold at your local shop (and I apologize last night for not realizing you’re in Belgium) — note that the really inexpensive Ravenswood Zin is just so-so, try one of the single vineyard to get a better feel.

Au Bon Climat

Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir 2023

Clear, pale ruby in color; on the nose, it's clean with medium intensity primary and secondary aromas of raspberries, pomegranates, and cloves; on the palate, it's dry with high acidity, low tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, and pronounced intensity primary and secondary flavors of cherries, cranberries, dried leaves, and hibiscus with a long finish. This wine is complex and balanced. Overall, I rate this wine as very good. Nellie likes it too. — 18 days ago

James Berry Vineyard Red Rhône Blend 2010

2010 James Berry rough by our buddy Rob went up after the 2013 Alban Patrina. Wow, a Syrah blend with plenary of Grenache, it was more elegant and very smooth with velvet mouthfeel and red fruits. Long finish. Lovely evening. — 6 days ago

Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon

Optio Vineyards Aer 2023, Paso Robles, California

Dark inky in color with a short purple rim.

Strong nose of blackberries, black currants, cooked plums, cedar, vanilla, licorice, tobacco, coffee, dried figs, spices, chocolates, black pepper and light herbs.

Full-bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with black currants, blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, spices, cedar, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Petite Sirah/Tempranillo blend from Paso Robles. Elegant, spicy and smooth. Complex, bold and entertaining. Tangy and interesting.

Drinking very nicely right out of the bottle with lots of Petite Sirah notes. As it opens up, the Tempranillo shows up. Really loved the nose after 3 hours of airtime.

Delicious now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food. Paired very nicely with Havarti cheese.

A blend of 50% Petite Sirah, 40% Tempranillo and 10% Mourvedre.

15.3% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$62.

Had a deep red color in the center of the glass and was blood red on the edges. Smelled oaky and tasted of blackberries and red fruit. — 16 days ago

Bold, full hints of ripe blackberries, black plums and dark cherries. Dry and balanced tannins / acidity. Wait for the smell of old leather. Great finish. — a month ago

Daou Vineyards

Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

Richly sweet flavor profile of berry and cherry, with hints of spice and smokiness. Heavy but to too much so. Very smooth finish. A high quality wine, and more enjoyable than other Cab Sauvs that I’ve tried. — 2 hours ago

Alban Vineyards

Reva Alban Estate Vineyard Syrah 2011

Beautiful wine. Tasting outstanding. Dark purple fruits and berries, olive brine, dried flowers, cured meat. Its dry lingering finish of fruit and olive just lingers. This is great with 3 hours of air. So glad to have gotten this bottle. Rhone ranger!!! Probably has another 5+ years of evolution in it, maybe more. — a month ago
