Chateau La Fleur Du Grand Moine

Lucien Le Moine

Echezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2020

2020 vintage. Opened and decanted. Tasted after 3 hours open. Medium/medium-heavy body. Big cranberry, baking spice, plum and pomegranate nose + flavors. Expectedly intense and full throttle Much too young to exhibit any modicum of tea-like or earthy notes. Think we’re gonna hafta wait (at least) 15 years for those to creep in but it’ll be worth the wait. 4.23.26. — 2 months ago

Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2015

Plummy color tinged with tan, nose of woodsy mushroom, brown bread turned earth. Strong entry of cherry bursting through earth and cedar root. Chewy tannins show this very much alive and brimming with secret power! So good, so nice!

Château Grand Moulin

Fleur Elysée Corbières Boutenac Carignan Blend 2016

On the bigger-framed and riper side, which is usually not my preferred style, but it’s pretty good nonetheless. Nose shows ripe dark fruit, and a tiny bit of dark ,chocolate, but that’s redeemed by nice dark olivey notes and deep stony minerality. Rich and very southern Rhone-like in the mouth, the richness again redeemed by the minerality. Would I have preferred they picked a little earlier? Sure. But this still is quite good. 40% Carignane, 30% Syrah, 30% Grenache. — 3 years ago

Les Grands Épenots Pommard 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2015

The wine is singing from the glass. Medium body, high minerality, probably the best grand epenots I ever came across. Only 3 bottles in my cellar, so time to forget about this but soooo good. — 6 years ago

Château Fleur Cardinale

Grand Cru Classé Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend

Strawberries, black cherries, dark chocolate and truffles. Very powerful. Apparently it is aged in 100% new oak, which is often not the best idea, but in this one it's perfectly integrated. Very long finish. — 3 months ago

Château La Fleur Morange

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend

2022 vintage ( sorry for the blurry photo). Grand Cru Classé since the 2012 classification. Contrary to common belief ( as this estate started out as a garage wine), this is not a blockbuster. Beautifully balanced, concentrated, intense, but also very fresh and mineral, with a wonderful purity of fruit. A fantastic wine that will need a few years to shine completely. This estate has a unique soil composition and very old vines: 2 hectares with 100 years old Merlot and 80 years old Cabernet Franc vines. Also tasted the 2014 ( score 9.5) and the 2023 and 2024 from the barrel. Good to know that the 2024 is outstanding here! — 9 months ago

Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 2016

Another great example of 2016’s openness. Power and complexity showing lots of minerals, asian pear, hazelnut and hints of match smoke. Finishes seemingly forever with outstanding depth. — 6 years ago

Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 2011

A slight deviation in the Burgundy region - off to Richebourg, Grand Cru no less!
Sommelier recommended producer ($$$$$) an excellent choice.
Tasting notes: Sweet, candy scent upon opening (caramel/fudge) then quickly revealed a fruit structure - sweet red fruits and cinnamon sticks (we are making it sound like a dessert wine but that came next 😋)

2022 Mathilde. This is made from the vineyards of La Fleur Morange that are not classified as Grand Cru Classé. A beautiful wine in its own right that is hard to beat for value for money. — 9 months ago

Château Fleur Haut Gaussens

Supérieur Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Nice nose with oaky notes and currant and small red berries. There is a tiny bit of meat juice too. The palate is well made with a good width, some matter and a nice grainy mouthfeel that expand in the rear with a spherical effect before a great finish with fruits, that meat juice touch and a tiny touch of bitterness. I have had much worse Saint emilion grand cru — 4 years ago

Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2016

No. 2 in the Chambolle Musigny, Vougeot and Flagey Echezeaux bracket. Tasted blind. Deeper than #1 Purple tinges to the mid to deep Ruby. Raspberry notes again. Latent power. Great length on the palate. There will be much to give after a long stint in the cellar. Very good. After revealing its identity I can agree that Grands Echezeaux is considered a slightly better block than Echezeaux. My highest pointed wine in this bracket just pipping the Mortet Bonnes Mares which was wine #4 — 6 years ago
