Age has not slowed this wine down in 2025. Multifaceted. Almost too much going on. Doesn't know when to settle down. — 3 months ago
Complex and lots of flavour — 7 months ago
An interesting dry white wine vinified by Feravino winery, 100% Graševina, also known as Welschriesling, it originally comes from vineyards located by the South of Hungarian border (that´s what the name stand for SoHu!) from the appellations Fericanci, Slavonia, Croatia.
Hand harvested and de-stemmed. All fermentation was done in stainless steels tanks at controlled
temperatures to preserve the aromas and freshness. The wine has compelling aromas of green crushed apples, mandarine peel and lemon zest that gives some vibrancy upon opening.
On the palate, stony fruits dominate from the entry, mineralilty is evident and has some tension and weight. It also has a texturized finish with an interlaced pleasant astringency, loved how acids remains persistent which makes a rounded, complex an attractive style. A wine to flex your taste buds. Strawberry, melon, and cherry notes. Bold but not too sweet. — 6 months ago
2023 -Vintage - rose made from Pinot Noir and Zweigelt - surprisingly good (the label didn’t really draw me) med plus acidity with a Pinot Noir like character in the aroma and a slight backend spice which I guess to be the Zweigelt -lower-ish ABV 12.5%ABV worked well with my scallops — 8 months ago
2022. Light with enough body and tartness to complement spicy Thai food. Very enjoyable. — 2 years ago

Quinta de Cidrô – Alvarinho – 2023
Douro DOC – Douro Valley / Portugal 🇵🇹
Overview
100% Alvarinho from the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro Valley, grown at higher elevations where altitude and continental influence preserve freshness and aromatic precision. This Portuguese expression leans more textural and mineral-driven than many Rías Baixas examples, with ripeness kept in check by vibrant acidity.
Aromas & Flavors
Ripe pineapple, Meyer lemon, citrus peel, white peach, subtle orange blossom, fresh herbs, and a delicate saline–mineral edge that reflects the Douro’s schist soils.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with a lively, crisp attack. Bright acidity carries the wine across the palate, while a gentle phenolic grip adds structure and depth. Clean, focused, and persistent on the finish.
Food Pairings
Grilled shrimp or prawns, ceviche, seared scallops, herb-marinated chicken, Portuguese bacalhau preparations, fresh goat cheese, or simply as an aperitif on a warm day.
Verdict
A balanced, refreshing, and highly expressive Alvarinho that showcases Portuguese terroir beautifully. The ripe pineapple character is distinctive without feeling tropical or overripe, making this wine both appetizing and dangerously drinkable.
Did You Know?
While Alvarinho is most famously associated with northern Portugal and Galicia, Douro-grown examples like this one often show more texture and mineral depth due to altitude and schist soils rather than Atlantic proximity.
🍷 Personal Pick Highlight
This sits comfortably among my top white wines from Portugal. I love how it differentiates itself from classic Rías Baixas Albarinho, more structure, more terroir expression, and just enough richness to stay compelling sip after sip.
