A surprisingly gorgeous evening in DC tonight at a favorite classic bistro. This Giggie has loads of ripe fruit, but is drinking really well already. Very soft, decent acids. Some savory notes. The alcohol (15%) pooks through on the back half of the palate. But it was served a little warmer than I’d like, so that probably amplified it. — 9 months ago

Ruby coloration. On the nose, currants, Dark berries. On the palate, currants, dark berry, cassis. Tannins are still strong after 15 years. — 5 years ago
A wonderful Mount Veeder Cab that has aged elegantly.
The nose shows blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum laced with savory notes of cedar, tobacco and dried herbs. The palate is concentrated yet vibrant with silky tannins has firm grip, finishing long with hints of cocoa and espresso.
Restrained power and finesse, Yannick brought both Veeder’s rugged characters and French precision. Last bottle. — 8 months ago
One of the best Girard 23’s. First time since April and it’s just as I remember. What a wine. Lush, giving cherry nose that just exudes purity and generousness. So inviting. Palate is lush and generous with unreal fruit. Black cherry, red cherry, blackberry. So dense, so explosive and fresh. Gorgeous, diamond cut tannins. Unreal wine. Wow. — 5 months ago

This is a beautiful and graceful older Chateauneuf-du-Pape, mature and nicely balanced, still some decent fruit, longish finish, time to drink up — 4 months ago
