2015 lovingly stored, drank at what feels like its peak in 2026, all the necessary acidity and fruit but deep and mature secondary flavors of Syrah — 2 months ago
Not as rich as the Hermitage, but still very good. Floral aromas, orchard fruit, minerals. Nice weight and finish. — 5 months ago
Almost effervescent with acidity, bright, with tart cherries, the funk and slight brine of olives, and a pleasant mid-mouth weight. — 2 months ago
M. Chapoutier “Les Granits” Saint-Joseph Blanc 2020, Rhône Valley, France 🇫🇷
Overview
A single-terroir expression of Marsanne grown on steep granite slopes in the Saint-Joseph appellation near Tournon. The granite soils contribute to the wine’s pronounced structure and mineral backbone. Fermentation occurs partly in vats and partly in large wooden barrels, followed by lees aging.
Aromas & Flavors
Floral aromatics dominate with honeysuckle, lily, and white blossoms, layered with mineral notes, beeswax, honey, and subtle spice.
Mouthfeel
Powerful yet precise. The granite soils give the wine strong structure and tension while maintaining balance and elegance.
Food Pairings
Lobster, roasted poultry, creamy mushroom dishes, truffle risotto, or aged cheeses.
Verdict
A structured and age-worthy Saint-Joseph Blanc with remarkable minerality and complexity.
🍷 Personal Pick
This wine twisted my brain upside down in the best way possible. The floral opening and persistent honeysuckle notes create a beautifully structured yet dangerously delicious wine.

Opened just prior to dinner and decanted. The 2010 “Reflet” pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with heady notes of dark brambles, spiced cured meat, purple flowers, black pepper, Kalamata olive, dried green herbs, granitic earth, and a kiss of warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is squarely in the zone and fantastic stuff. Drink now through 2035+. — 4 months ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Medium Ruby with aromas of black and red fruits with floral spice notes. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry with smoke and tobacco notes. Generous acidity on fine soft tannins with a long finish ending with fruit and floral spice. Drinking well now! — a month ago
