Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2006
Not sure I’ve had any other 2006 Bordeaux but decided to pull this to give it a go at nearly 20 years of age. Nice wine but perhaps not one that justifies the price point. At first quite tight, but after a 5 hour decant this really comes into its own. Lots of leather and dark blue and black fruit. Oak is really only apparent in structure now. Great acid. 13% which is nicely balanced. — 13 days ago

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2001
This shows some barnyard, horsey notes up front, likely Brett, but for more Brett-tolerant folks like me, it’s the lovely fresh redfruits underneath and crisp and lively acidity, together with the lingering finish, that make this a lovely CdP!! But I would note for those who are very Brett-intolerant, you may not care for it at all. — 17 days ago

This was a real finding in the Ritz restaurant at South Beach. Old vintage with all the bells and whistles. Cork was a bit problematic to take off but wine was pristine. Starting to show some secondary notes and all the garrigue you can ask for. — 19 days ago
