This is a lovely old vine Zinfandel from various vineyards Bedrock sources their juice from, smooth, balanced, long finish, but a great example of what not to serve AFTER a Bedrock single vineyard wine (like the 2023 Old Hill Heritage we just finished), I’m happy to open this any day of the week, but the comparison is stark! — 11 days ago

Inly black in the glass with an extraordinary nose. Heavy floral notes, blueberry, cassis and a hint of ripened raspberry. I'd go full-bodied on this Cab Franc. As it opened it showed amazing structure and elegance. The bottle age served it well. — 4 days ago

This ancient vineyard (planted from 1888 - 1895) carries roughly 26-29 varieties (who knows…?). The wine usually comprises about 50% of Zinfandel, also quite some Carignan, Mataro, Syrah and Petite Sirah. Furthermore, there are dollops of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Bouschet, Peloursin, Trousseau, Calmette… Just to name a few. The label proudly proclaims that this particular vintage was the 127th (!) year of existence of these vines and 19 different variaties were included in the blend.
When poured in a glass I notice a bright ruby semi-translucent colour with no signs of aging. A beautiful nose of dark fruit (cassis and plum), peppery oriental spice, vanilla, cigar, cedar, toasty oak and a hint of orangepeel.
The palate has sufficient acidity, medium-plus tannines and a long and distinguished finish.
A great wine, drinking at its peak.

Young and fresh but showing many of the Dolinsek’s traditional traits: a big nose of blue and black fruits followed by a fruit forward wine of the same. Very hipster tattoo styled label. 52% Petite Verdot, 25% Cab Sauv, 23% Malbec. Dark, dark maroon color. Aroma is gravel and molasses. Maybe a hint of berry. Flavors are beefy and big. Lots of dried black cherry. Some molasses. Tannins are well represented. Has that classic Matchbook herbal streak. This went well with the lamb and mushroom dish I made. A great blend. Total sleeper: while the label simply says ‘Syrah’, the reality in the making of it is that it’s a co-fermentation of 85% Syrah from some of Bedrock’s prized vineyards and (about) about 15% Viognier. And man does it work- particularly for the price.

Actually a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (77%), Merlot (12%), Malbec (5%), Cabernet Franc (4%) Petite Verdot (2%). Dark ruby color with some purple highlights. Aroma of ripe black fruit, violets, cedar and burnt caramel. Flavors of black berry/currant/plum fruit, black tea, savory herbs and spices.
