Cuvée Rosé Brut Champagne 1812

Popped open on the night of college football championship game. I honestly thought the U would pull it off at the last second and kick the winning extra point as the expired.

Oh well… at least this is enjoyable as always. My reference point for rose Champaign.

Beautiful fruit and structure. Opened up pretty quickly. Brought this bottle back from trip to France a couple years ago. — 21 days ago

I think this bottle may be over 35 years old. Still excellent. Opened and enjoyed on New Year’s Eve 2025. — a month ago

Puligny-Montrachet Chardonnay 2018

Found something drinkable among the acres of plonk in the Juneau liquor store…pretty nice but could use a bit more integration. — 10 days ago

"Les Granits" Saint Joseph Syrah 2012

Love this wine and producer. Maybe a little too far a long for its age but still so enjoyable. Good value, quality wine. Paired with beef wellington — a month ago

Backus Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

1hour decant(some chunky/fine sediment). A striking still dark magenta color with little bricking. On the nose: Inviting notes of sweet red/blue fruit, smoked meat, floral, worn leather, nutmeg, wet forest floor. Taste: velvety, smooth, elegant, savory mature wine with dried cherries, cocoa, leather, scorched earth, and a minerally mocha long lingering finish. YUM!! — a month ago

I had a 1997 just over 2 years ago. Even with a 4 hour decant it wouldn’t budge. Still have a mag of 97, I don’t know when to even think about opening that one.

@Paul T HB Nice. The 05 still looked young and had such a classic feel to it. But, its peak has past....still drank well, and has more years of savory pleasure to go.
