My continuing quest to taste as many 22 Burgundies as possible…

The nose shows warm red fruit compote made w/; blackberries, dark cherries, cherries, strawberries & blueberries. Dark earth with leaves, dry twigs, soft baking spices, fruit cake, caramel, chocolate pudding, light, dry herbs with candied & slightly withering, dark, red, blue florals framed in violets.

The wine drinks softly & smoothly w/o a ton of complexity, yet. Certainly is easy to drink now. Ripe & slightly candied; blackberries, dark cherries, cherries, strawberries & blueberries. Dark earth with leaves, twigs, soft baking spices, dark & brooding spice, fruit cake, meted caramel, chocolate pudding to melted dark chocolate, tree bark with sap, semi-sweet maple syrup notes, light, dry herbs with warm, moist clay, candied & slightly withering, dark, red, blue florals framed in violets, very round acidity with with a brooding elegant, balanced finish that lasts nearly two-minutes. Landing in spice and beautiful earths. 91-93 with a bit more bottle evolution. — 18 days ago

When the wife orders you to pull a nice chardonnay from the cellar, you obey immediately.

This was an exciting bottle with citrus on the nose. Orange peel, pear, roasted bread and citrus on the palate. Good concentration and acidity. Seamless integration. Still more to come with additional cellar time. — 5 months ago

2019 vintage. Previous owner Alain Mouiex (also Château Fonroque) sold this tiny (less than 3 hectares) estate to the owners of Château Sansonnet, Cadet Soutard, Villemaurine and Harmonie in 2015, the Lefévère family. Tasting this excellent 2019, it seems that Marie-Bénédicte Lefévère is doing a great job here. Made from 100% Merlot, it is lush and restrained at the same time. Ripe, layered fruit, fresh acidity, and a distinctive minerality make the 14,5% alcohol go unnoticed. Excellent value too, highly recommended. — 10 months ago
