Wow. This tastes just like … a Bourgogne rouge made by William whitehead. What a coincidence.
You get that succulent sexy fruit without as much of the complexity of the better terroir. Which is what you want some nights.
Nose: earth sexy cherries. Hints of cherry liquor.
Palate: full on mid to late season cherry. Cherry liquor. Hints of cherry licorice.

The 2019 Rosso Conero, 100% Montepulciano, mixes succulent red fruits with cracked stone mineral tones and spiced citrus. It’s soft in texture yet high in energy, impressive for its shear drinkability. A salty flourish combines with tart berries throughout. $22.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, September 2022) — 3 years ago
Broke out a big gun for the holiday. Succulent on the first taste from the bottle. Decanted and drank over 2+ hours. Almost no sediment. Striking color. Very deep red. Tons of mature fruit but still lively. Deep and long. Rounded mouthfeel and lingers wonderfully. It’s such a smooth but heady wine. Nicely fragrant. My first DRC. — 5 months ago
Rich ruby red with dark cherry, plum, mushrooms, and earthy. Smooth and succulent with stewed cherry and cedar flavors. Very nice! — a year ago
Vivid ruby. The bouquet is made of ripe red berries, cherry and lavender aromas, along with subtle licorice and white pepper flourishes. Broad, fleshy and appealingly sweet, showing juicy raspberry, cherry-cola and baking spice flavors and a touch of succulent herbs. Closes long and smooth, with discreet tannins and a strong floral note. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, January 2023) — 2 years ago
Third wine from Angelus, wine is pale red with some purple. I think its because of merlot aging. On nose its plums, figs, oak with stronfg smokiness, tropical. On palate its so smooth, medium acidity, juicy, succulent, on intensity i think this wine already passed its peak. Should drink it like 3 years earlier. Still a good wine but if you want to try it, do it with younger wine. Cheers! — 6 months ago
Pleasant at first pour but underpowered. Needed 45 minutes and decant to start. Improved over time. Darker red than I was expecting. Young wine and quite smooth. Some racy notes at the perimeter but more of an easy drinking succulent Nebbiolo than a brooding one. — 9 months ago
Limpid orange-pink. Lively, mineral-tinged red berry and orange zest scents, along with a building floral quality and a touch of succulent herbs. Dry, tight and lively in style, tangy redcurrant and tangerine flavors deepen slowly through the back half. Finishes on a repeating mineral note, with sharp definition and strong persistence. Glorious nose of apricot, peach and minerals. Very pretty. Smells like if the ocean was made of Riesling. Palate is gorgeous and a bit backwards with pink grapefruit, tangelo and apricot. Gorgeous purity and depth. Killer acidity but needs to come together. Nose gets herbal with air. Also some spice. Palate has great concentration and such an intense mineral sheen. Juicy and linear and wonderful delineation on the finish. Nose is confectionary beyond. Wet, damp earth. Salty, juicy, clean. So ludicrous. Succulent. This is killer on day 2. Wow. So concentrated and deep. Unreal tension. 9.6 9.7 overnight. The sap and intensity are world class. — 19 days ago
