Nose is reticent but what is there is on the weedy side. There’s also some pungent minerality, with some nice cassis fruit struggling to peek through. Deep and savory in the mouth, with very nice acids keeping things youthful-feeling. Still a fair amount of very fine tannin. This reminds me of a good Listrac. Still has years to go. — 2 years ago
Balanced, delicious, significant cherry notes. — 5 years ago
Villa Cafaggio Cortaccio. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. A nice garnet colour in the glass. This 2008 is lovely. From the Panzano Estate, this wine was aged for 18 months in new French Oak. The result? A well balanced Tuscan Cabernet that delivers flavours of leather, tobacco, herbs and some earthiness. Well balanced acidity and tannins. Lovely wine.

Had a ruby red color and the color was consistent throughout the glass. Smelled of cherry or red fruit. Tasted of red fruit and was a little bitter. Felt like it coated the mouth. — 4 months ago
A vibrant red - rich with a bit of spice. Enjoyed it with a house special hamburger. Flavors of cherry, blueberry and pepper. — 6 months ago
I have no idea why @Delectable Wine puts “Marks & Spencer,” which I think is a British retailer, in the ID of this wine. Anyway, it’s a characterful wine. Very dark color for a Chianti Classico. It’s got an interesting nose of black cherry, a substantial tomato leaf note, leather, and rocky gravel. Rather energetic in the mouth, with deep, dark cherry, that turns savory and minerally very quickly. A bit more soft tannin than many annatas, and zesty acids. Lot of bang for the buck here. — 2 years ago

Made by Basilica Cafaggio, this is a great value in a Gran Selezione Chianti. I didn’t make the mistake I made last year of only buying one bottle. Bought a half case and will let it age some in the cellar. — 4 months ago

As a lover of Chianti Classico’s, this particularly dry Sangiovese is fantastic. Great bottle for the price. — 8 years ago

100% Sangiovese. Bright garnet color with a ruby core. Aromas of dark fruit, Asian spices, menthol and dusty earth. Flavors of black cherries and plums, black tea, tobacco, iodine and black olives. Slight hint of vanilla on the medium-plus finish and bright acidity. Well structured with slightly chewy tannins. Well balanced and concentrated. Nice heft. Part of a June 2026 KZ Tasting. — 23 days ago
