This is the 2021 Ziegler (Cave de Beblenheim) Mambourg Gewurztraminer Grand Cru. The “Ziegler” brand is one of the brand names used by this well-regarded co-op. I love the balance on this wine. This nose is classic Gewurz, but in a restrained fashion. Lychee, pear, deep floral notes, river stones. Off-dry on the palate, it’s got nice fruit initially, accompanied by some nice stony minerality. A nice bitter note enlivens the finish. Decent acids for a Gewurz! Tangerine, tangerine zest,, some brioche notes (?), some elderflower flower touches too. It's not your typical riesling nose but it's quite interesting and appealing. The palate shows a good acid drive, some nice and pleasing mouthfeel, some tangerine and lemon curd touches, almost a sweet layer in the rear, before a long, rather fresh, tangerine forward finish. It went super well with sushis and especially against a pretty dark and salty soy sauce 👍🏻. — 2 years ago

Banshee Wines was founded by 3 friends Noah Dorrance, Baron Ziegler, and Steve Graf who shared a lifelong dream of owning their own winery. Their first vintage of Pinot Noir, produced in 2009 was sold out in 3 months. Deep color with red berry fruit aromas and notes of sweet floral scents. On the palate ripe red plum, currant and cherry flavors with complex spice. Smooth tannins balanced well with vivid acidity, lingering ending with a mineral character. Nice value.
