One can’t really make Pinot better than this. The Buntsandstein aka - colored Sand Stone. Is really a benchmark wine. One can debate the the style but not really the quality. 2015 was a stand out vintage. This comes from old vines. The wine is alive and talks. Yes talks to you:… Kirsch, almonds, crushed marble, black forest thyme, hint orange zest, touch oregano, … this goes on and on as more flavors evolve with air. The wine will probably age another 5-10 years.
An experience really! But not for the middle of the road „ let’s have a Pinot drinker“ - they will be disappointed ☹️.
I think this will outlast the 15’ Muschelkalk from E&M which is more delicate. One of the main issues the wine is hard to come by. Sometimes only 3 barrels are made. Next day eucalyptus and dried figs. — a year ago
2020 vintage. Another great effort from this Château. Already easy drinking. A lot of sweet fruit, smooth with a nice ripe tannic bite, freshness and good length. Merlot 70%, Cabernet Franc 16%, Cabernet Sauvignon 9%, Carmenère 2% and Noir de Pressac (aka Malbec) 2%. Abv. 14,5%. Hubert de Boüard consults.Don't know if it will make old bones ( a 2008 recently tasted was totally over the hill). — 4 years ago
This was perfect for sipping on its own! — 5 years ago
Listan Prieto, aka Mission aka Criolla chica aka Pais. The Benje Tinto from Envinante sourced from the DO Ycoden Daute Isora on Tenerife. Opens up very reductive, so be patient with it. Tart red fruit, very savoury and salty, like licking a stone, peppery. Like a northern Rhône but in the lack of flesh. Now call me conservative, but this above my threshold. However, very playful and fun, complex as well with a decent lenght and playful. — 6 years ago
Domaine Bizot lunch today hosted by their winemaker Thomas Berry. This is a producer who’s wines are virtually impossible to find. They have 9 plots with an average yearly production at 9000 btls. Whole cluster with some new oak, very small yields & small amounts of sulphur added. Their wines are lush & pure with no intervention showing purity of fruit, sweet spices along with floral notes. They are so delicious now you can drink them young but will reward long term cellaring. (Aka Liger Belair) — 6 years ago
An extremely generous Secret Santa gift from @badphotographer29 aka Mami - this Lynch Bages is nearing peak drinking I’d say & in a lovely spot 😍 but will live 10-15 more years easy 👍 Thanks Mami 😘 🤗

This cuvée of the best of Bedrock’s best Zinfandel lots offers a big nose of blackberry and underbrush, followed with tart dark berries, graphite, mild acidity and classic Zin spice. Out of the gate it’s a bit edgy but with time in the glass shifts to an incredibly smooth, slightly oaked wine with many classic cab attributes. Wonderful either way. — 4 months ago

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra (the overly talented youth!). Our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading IVES (Three Places in New England, Orchestral Set No. 1), BEETHOVEN (Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Opus 37) and STRAUSS (Also sprach Zarathustra, Opus 30...aka 2001: A Space Odyssey, Stanley Kubrick❤️).
One of our local treasures, Emanuel Ax on piano for the Beethoven Concerto! — 2 years ago
Dark garnet with black purple core. Black cranberry and baseball bat on the abundant nose. Echoed on the medium full palate which adds slightly graphite-y currant and a hint of vanilla. Dusty, medium plus tannins from entry to medium, slightly hot finish (15% alcohol doesn't assert until the end). Surprisingly this $19 Tinta de Toro (aka, Tempranillo) may need some time to settle. Quality and craftsmanship are quite evident, but some time night be beneficial. Drink from 2025. — 3 years ago
The good whites of Burgundy, aka crack cocaine, are what they are because of great blending - in this case, Pierre Benoist of DRC.
This is special not just for the florals, the woods, the citrus, the spice, but for these things together.

Happy valentine's day aka my first date and engagement anniversary with my wife (got married in 2010). Big black and blue fruits with charcoal, mint, eucalyptus, and cedar along with tannins that are still showing fairly well. No rush, easily have a decade plus to go. — 6 years ago
100% Graciano aka Muristellu aka Bovale Sardo. Immediately recognizable nose when opened with perfume of floral and cherry. On the palate it has nice fruit boysenberry, cranberry, and red cherry. Lively acidity, but still full bodied. Earthy & spice on the finish with a hint of vanilla. — 7 years ago
A medium bodied red from the Jaen (aka Mencia) grape. Quite aromatic with more red fruit than black, a touch of cloves, mint. A bit of turned earth and tree bark. Fresh & quite enticing. Quite Gamay like.
Quite light bodied on the palate, with juicy acidity and nice purity of fruit. Tart, with a slightly bitter note, raspberry & cranberry with a herby finish. Nice length quite a bit of depth. — a year ago
Crisp, citrusy and gently funky. Good value. Ubiquitous ugni blanc (aka trebbiano). Similar to Muscadet. — 2 years ago
Straw, lees/saline/sea salt, fresh yellow delicious apple, gravelly on the palate, creamy texture bc malo. creme fraiche. Vanilla, butter, baking spices from new oak. Mendoza clone aka Wente clone, Brancott Valley, native yeast, barrel fermented, 18 months in 35% new barrel. — 6 years ago
Charbono aka Bonarda or Douce Noir. This particular one is from Paso Robles AVA with notes of plum sauce, cherry, cardamom, fig paste, and graphite. Quite interesting to taste. Medium plus body and tannins with low acidity and alcohol. A smooth and flavorful wine. — 7 years ago
Pinotman /// Andreas
Wine tasting at Ziereisen. In Baden Effringen-Kirchen. Without doubt one of the top 10 winemakers in all of Germany and perhaps in the top 100 in the world. Went through all of his portfolio. This entry level Chasselat aka Gutedel was lemon driven mostly. Fantastic intro to the grape. And relatively inexpensive. — 22 days ago
