#AgedWineTuesday
Ruby in color with a reddish rim. Not showing it's age.
Pretty nose with black currants, black plums, blackberries, licorice, cedar, herbs, tobacco leaf, chocolates, dark coffee, pencil lead, light earth and peppercorn.
Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with black currants, blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, cedar, spices, toast, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, earth, light alcohol, peppercorn, green tea and herbs.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Showing a great nose right out of the bottle.
Rich and extracted, yet elegant. Very complex and spicy. Smooth, yet powerful. Does not feel like it's 18 year old at all.
This Cabernet Sauvignon from the great 2007 vintage in Napa Valley is showing beautifully now. Fully matured, but has enough energy to last it much longer. Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 7 years.
I love these aged Napa Bordeaux blends. Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine.
A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec. Aged for 18 months in (79% new) French oak barrels.
15.2% alcohol by volume.
94 points.

Juicy, authentic and refreshing so fruitful with passion fruit 🍊 and citrus tangerine, grassy yet the sweet fruity brings the layer with its long finishings of fresh fruit and summery vibe

Founded 1972, Tom & Sally Jordan, from CO, went to CA’s wine country & produced inaugural vintage in 1976. A Fav of mine with a steak, and the ‘14 is big! Had the ‘14 over a year ago, it’s Wow Now! Blend of 79% Cab Sauv, 13.7% Merlot, 5.8% Petit Verdot, 1.2% Malbec & 0.3% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby red with aromas of red fruit & perfume spice. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry & blackberry with oak, sweet spice, leather & cacao notes. Rich tannins, well balanced and integrated with fruit & oak. Very Nice! — 7 years ago

Surprisingly amazing Lemberger, rich and full bodied yet still some fruitiness. — 2 years ago
Founded by Donn and Molly Chappelet in 1967 on renowned Pritchard Hill. A blend of 79% Cab Sauv, 12% Petit Verdot & 9% Malbec. Deep Ruby with purple edges, aromas of dark berry fruits, cedar, cacao and sweet herbs. On the palate rich flavors of blackberry and currants with sweet oak and herbs with a great mouthfeel. Soft fine tannins, long ending with fruit and sweet oak. Will improve but great now! — 6 years ago
In magnum..luv the foil cap..."it goes to eleven". 1 hour decant (little sediment). A transfixing inky red color. On the nose: blue fruit, floral, cassis, black fruit. Taste: BlackBerry, graphite, minerals, smoke..semi firm tannins and a plush mouthfeel lead to a med- long finish...has more time to go. From the Rock Block series..names diff blocks for his favorite songs or albums. — 7 years ago

Presented to me double-blind. The wine pours a dull purple/garnet color with a translucent core and significant rim variation, moving towards a rust color. The wine has medium viscosity with light staining of the tears and signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of cassis, dried blackberries, dried red and purple flowers, old leather bound books, tobacco, a touch of menthol, some earth, old wood and a sprinkle of warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Super high quality but a touch thin.
Initial conclusions: Due to the observable characteristics of color, rim variation, sediment, smell and flavor, I think this wine has significant age; 30+ years. However, this is still very alive and showing more than enough markers to give an indication of place. Subsequently, this could be a Cabernet-based blend or a Tempranillo-based blend from the United States, France, or Spain. For me, I’m getting new French oak vibes instead of American so I’m eliminating Spain. I also think this leans more towards its fruit than its structure and since this comes across a little on the thin side, I’m going to say this comes from a tougher vintage. My final conclusion is this is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend from the USA, Napa, 1981. Wow! This showed really well.
It never ceases to amaze me how analogous the 1981 vintage was in both Napa and Bordeaux. I find it equally amazing how well that vintage has held up; particularly when considering its poor reputation, mostly based on the prevailing thought at the time. From my perspective, well stored examples are not going to fall off of a cliff but I would drink now through 2031. — 5 months ago

Spice, blue and black fruits, such a lovely cool climate Aussie Shiraz that is a wonderful QPR ($18-22 or so out here), a perfect weekday Shiraz with some ooomph and complexity. — 3 days ago
