2020 vintage. The last vintage for this wine as it was bought from the Bécot family ( owners of Beauséjour-Bécot) by the owners of Haut-Brion in 2021. It will be incorporated into Château Quintus (which is a merger of 3 estates: Tertre-Daugay, L'Arrosée and Grand-Pontet). Many Saint-Emilion estates disappeared, incorporated into other estates, some very good wines sadly disappeared like Curé Bon La Madeleine (now into Canon), Cadet-Piola (now into Soutard) and so on. The fact that Grand Cru Classés can legally be incorporated into Premier Grands Crus Classés tells you that you have to take the classification with more than a grain of salt. A bit shy on the nose, even after a few hours. Medium-bodied, nice value for a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé. — 3 years ago

Deep Ruby with aromas of black fruits, complex spice and notes of herbs and forest floor. On the palate subtle flavors cherry and red plum with notes of cacao, espresso and licorice. Fine tannins, adding to great mouthfeel, long finish ending with toasty cedar notes and earthy herb mineral. Good now as fruit starting to fade a bit, but still showing beauty and grace. 1990 vintage. Last tasted slightly over 3 years ago (8.7). Solid fill and cork. Not decanted. Tasted after two hours. A curious, fecal nose that never dissipated but nose didn’t invade the flavors that were earthy and spicy. This was immeasurably improved over the last encounter. N: Cherry chocolate pie with freshly tilled dirt, even black river rocks underneath. It has that faint hint at soil mixing with sweet. Even tarry.
P: med-light weight , black then purple fruits. Just tugging at your cheeks.
Refreshing. Glou-Glou indeed.
Tides the line (rides?) between picnic and serious fare. Less fruity on the palate than on the nose.,A nice thing.
