Vosne-Romanée Pinot Noir 2014

This somehow aged into more tannic wine. Still solid though. — a day ago

Il Fait Soif Côtes du Rhône Grenache Syrah 2024

8.9

No ratings on this wine in a while it seems. The 2024 vintage is quite quaffable, although more tannin than I’d expect in a carbonic wine. Perhaps semi-carbonic, with some time on that 100% whole cluster following the carbonic maceration? A very enjoyable wine though, fruit forward as you’d expect from carbonic but with more structure and grip. Well made. — a month ago

Le Clos des Chênes Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2018

Gorgeous oak free 2018 Volnay Premier Cru enjoyed with finger food while enjoying this year’s Super Bowl. No notes this time, but it is an amazing pour. — a month ago

Les Rouges des Baties Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2015

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. Black plastic cork; the standard for Dard et Ribo. The 2015 “Les Rouges des Baties” pours a deep, dull ruby/purple with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of wild black brambles, oil cured olive, roasted meat, purple flowers, black pepper, a mix of organic and inorganic earth and dried herbs. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. An utterly beautiful expression of Crozes-Hermitage and this worked really well with goose from South Dakota. I’m smitten. Drink now through 2035. — a month ago

Les Charmes Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2013

Very perfumed with a touch of spice. On the palate there wasn’t much to it. Lacking depth or complexity yet it did have a pretty long finish. — 8 months ago
