Jones Family Vineyard

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Somm David T
9.9

I have written notes on 4 bottles of the 97 Jones Family Cabernet. This is the most perfect.

I have had all the Napa Cult Cabernets. None have ever rocked my palate/whole body the way this 97 Jones has done.

This is sadly my last bottle. I think it has finally hit its precipice. So, enjoy. If there are others that appear on the secondary markets, you’ll have to out dual/bid me.

I could write more notes but my previous ones will still apply plus. I am simply going to enjoy near perfection w/o further notes. Cheers! 🍷

Coravined bottle from last weekend relaid in storage. If I had a long enough thin tongue, I’d lick the inside of the bottle. 🤔😂 😋

Kungfu Girl Washington State Riesling 2023

Light sweet and crisp more of a spring time wine than a fall but would definitely get again! — 3 months ago

Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

A popular US import here in Zürich, at least with my family. Had it many times, very consistent. Solid Cab, very bold and fruit-forward, a little syrupy, some red licorice. Some haters on Delectable, but it never let me down. Very grill-worthy with plenty of smoked meats. — 6 months ago

The Archimage Columbia Valley Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

Cab Franc 49%, Merlot 48%, Cabernet 3%. Good blend. I have been consistently impressed by this producer and how the wines age. This is tasting at the right moment. Baked blackberry, black pepper, sour cherry. It’s good, but drink now. — 2 months ago

Quilceda Creek

Galitzine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.

Fruity nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, mint, vanilla, cedar, cola, licorice, eucalyptus and peppercorn.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, licorice, spices, graphite, peppercorn and black tea

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a gorgeous 12 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain in Washington State. Complex and fruit forward. Rich and elegant.

I had a more recent vintage not too long ago, and it’s definitely better with age.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is absolutely fantastic now. Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 7 years.

Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel and a gorgeous nose. Loved smelling on it. The high alcohol is well integrated by now.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and paired beautifully with the delicious Wagyu Steak.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in all new French oak barrels for 20 months.

15.2% alcohol by volume.

94 points.

Columbia Crest

Reserve Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Ripe in flavor, with a vivid array of black currant, blackberry, violet, black tea and black pepper aromas and flavors that zoom through to a long, expressive finish. Shows subtlety in the layers of complex flavor against a refined structure. Tannins are present but nicely contained. #1 Wine of 2009, Wine of the Year* — 5 months ago

Bionic Frog Walla Walla Valley Syrah 2023

This wine is in a different orbit. I can safely say I have never tasted a wine this smooth, this balanced, this subtle… this uplifting. Fine polished tannins take this juicy, vibrant fruit infused with black olive and lifted with earthy notes from the stones of the Rocks District to a finish that stays with you for minutes and can only make you think of one thing: I want another sip…. but I I want this wine to last for ever ….good problem to have 😁. Like Nicholas Joly said. A good wine makes you feel something deeply inside and you can ‘feel’ the wine. This one sure did. — 2 months ago

Figgins

Estate Red Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2021

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose and full in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, cooked plums, chocolates, light wood, herbs, earth and peppercorn.

Long finish with grippy tannins and tart cherries.

This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from Walla Walla Valley. Rich and in your face kind of wine. Fruit forward and extracted.

This Single Vineyard Bordeaux blend is complex, tangy and interesting. Feels very young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly.

I had the 2015 vintage not too long ago, and it was drinking beautifully. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years, and showing good potential to become a 94 point wine.

A good sipping wine, that would also pair nicely with food.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Aged in (57% new) French Oak barrels for 22 months.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.
