Poured at the Domaine by Vincent Ruiz, who has taken over the Estate and finished the bottling of this wine. The label was selected by Belluard’s wife, Valerie. After tasting through tank samples of the 2022 Gringets, it appears the Domaine (now called Domaine du Gringet) is in excellent hands. A beautiful site and a highly recommended visit. — 3 years ago
Across the line I’m loving how Rodolphe’s 14’s are showing now. Here, Monsieur Victor, coming from the best barrel of 2014 Chetillons and a “perpetual reserve” from ‘88, ‘90, ‘93 and ‘96 harvests, shows impeccable purity, precision and vibrancy with layered aromatics of yellow fruit, white flowers and candied hazelnuts. The palate has killer intensity, bracing citrus inflicted acids and a persistent mouth coating finish. Excellent. — 4 years ago
Smooth, well-balanced Burgundy (Pinot Noir), served with steak frites at Chez Monsieur, Paris — 2 years ago
A pale light yellow in the glass. Delicate small bubbles and nice creaminess. The nose is incredibly fresh with a touch of menthol complemented by pineapple. Nuttiness and baked bread along with pears. Tasted in the Grassl 1855 which showed more autolytic aromas after given time and air.
Another stellar champagne from the 2008 vintage. Blanc de blancs from Montgenost disgorged in 2019. Lowish dosage of 5 g/l but it doesn’t bring searing acidity, instead it delivers intensity, purity, and drama.
Pleasing and pleasant, there’s quite a bit to like here. The palate is focused and harmonious with complexity. Lively and intense on the tongue with plenty of citrus that recedes only for brioche bread to take the lead. Minerality on the long finish. Revisit this a few more years down the road and you’ll be happy. — 4 years ago
Bucket-list Dominus dinner at Next in Chicago with Christian Moueix and seven vintages of Dominus. I poured a glass for Monsieur Moueix and had him sign the bottle. Wine was absolutely singing at 28 years old… still medium deep purple with resolved tannins and expected sediment. Bravo Christian… and thank you for your efforts. — 3 years ago

Lovely aged red Rhone, this wine has 15 varietals (red and white) co-fermented and aged 12 months in oak barriques, 14% ABV, though no hint of too much, great balance and complexity, lingering finish, very fine and Special!! — 3 days ago
