Tasted it at Salute wine bar immediately cherry flavor and smell.
Tasting: cherry, black plum, wild herb, leather, and spiced mocha notes, while a finely textured cloak of cannons and striking acidity provide the structural integrity for graceful bottle aging

Trader Joe’s Classic!!!! This usually stinks. But not in this stellar 2021 vintage. Not super complex but more on the elegant side. I would think this will age for 10 years or so. After 24 hours even better and more convincing. Quite tannic! Grab it by the case while it is there the 2022 will be awful (my prediction). And at 20 bucks…….. — 3 months ago

2021 vintage. PNP'd. Not nearly as explosive and satisfying as that damned 2019 vintage and less body than the corresponding 2020 vintage but a bit more depth and a tad more spice than 2020. A Trader Joe's spesh at $15.99. Think it'll add a little more body and Beatles Come Together notes in the next 6 months-2 years and maybe bump up to a 9.1. At that price, picked up a few bottles to have at the haus through the holidays. 11.5.25. — a month ago
First bottle of a half case we bought at the domaine in 2021. Definitely will be better in a few years but nice to try one on the earlier side. What they say is true - this is really easily Brunello level. At this point the nose isn’t giving a ton, but there is great depth of fruit and earth on the palate. This hits in several more parts of the mouth than most wines and the finish goes on for quite a while. Medium plus tannins and acid which should balance out a bit with some more age.
Opened the bottle 5 hours prior to service and then decanted for 2. Real candidate to be 9.5+ in a few years. — 4 months ago

From a double-magnum. The 2012 “Il Carbonaione” pours a deep garnet color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing and initially reticent. After almost an hour of air, the bouquet emerged to reveal some funky cherry, red flowers, bergamot, horse blanket, green herbs, old wood and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is medium+. After plenty of air, this became really tasty stuff but the large format has really retarded the aging process. Similar bottles likely need well into the next decade to enter the zone. Killer with food. — 8 days ago
