Caveat being price,, my scores would be lower if I had paid release. But I still enjoy most bottles from this vineyard but at $125.00 or less.A very nice, cool climate, reductive Chardonnay
Toasted sesame & cool mint on the nose. Beautiful mouthfeel, balanced, elegant with juicy acidity. The yellow stone fruit restrained but of high purity. Nice depth here.
This is so drinkable and quite lovely while showing some hints of seriousness. β 9 months ago
Light and smooth. Peppery, cranberries, raspberries and coffee. Jammy on the finish. β 2 months ago

This is such a lovely Pinot with a winning balance of fruit and acidity. The medium bodied wine has classic aromas of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, red currant, violet, orange peel, black cherry and forest floor. Medium (+) finish, low tannin and just a perfect wine for food pairing. Classic on my Thanksgiving table. β 2 months ago
It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose of cedar, herbs, tobacco leaf, herbs, black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, spices, vanilla, licorice, cloves, mint, black pepper and light earth.
Full-bodied with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, blackberries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, chocolates, tobacco leaf and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 8 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is already gorgeous, although still young.
Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel. Spicy and entertaining.
The 2016 was a great vintage, and it is showing. This Single Vineyard cabernet will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.
Robert Parker 97 points. Wine Enthusiasts 96 points.
I've had a few vintages of this wine, and it always delivers.
Thank you Barry for sharing this with me.
Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will pair nicely with BBQ Meats. I paired it beef brisket.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in (65% new) French oak barrels for 18 months.
14.7% alcohol by volume

Mid to pale crimson - actually transparent. The pale colour belies the aromatic and palate intensity. Aromatics of cherry and raspberry transforming on to the medium bodied sweet red fruited palate. A touch of Sous Bois. An excellent Pinot as always from the Applejack Vineyard from Giant Steps. β 2 months ago

This wine has a beautiful balance of stone and tropical fruit with crisp but not overbearing acidity. Acacia, Lemon, green apple, white peach and thyme happily nestle with vanilla, clove and a hint of hazelnut that gives a clue to lively future development. Medium body, and a long finish that leaves the palate refreshed and longing for another sip. β 7 months ago
A wonderful Australian Chardonnay - see previous notes here. Applejack is usually my favourite Giant Steps Vineyard for Pinot Noir but with Chardonnay there are a couple of contenders - like Sexton Vineyard and this one. Great balance of stone fruit and absorbed toasty oak. Wine shows adroit winemaking skills - somewhat βworked β and showing creamy Lees character. Have the last one in 2027 when 10 years old. Had my last bottle on 25th September 2025. Even better than before. 95 points. Vanillin oak notes to begin with before it blew off. Rich Stonefruit notes with a nice acid cut. β 10 months ago

I went to Covert to taste the Nicholas Jones Sleeping Lady. I have two vintages (14 & 16) in my collection but have never had one. I bought on recommendation from @Paul T HB.
I had hoped to try their 2023 but they are still tasting their 2019. Per my host, they hold back their Sleeping Lady awhile longer to age further in bottle.
This 2019 was the best in the tasting. It demonstrated to me that I could open my 14 or 16 or continue to hold awhile longer.
I would say that the Nicholas Jones demonstrate more depth & character over the Covert. β 2 months ago
