Located halfway up the hill dominating the principal valley of Barolo, supported by steep slopes lined by orderly vineyards, lies the 15th century Abbey of Annunziata. Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe berry fruits and pepper spice. On the palate flavors of cherry and strawberry, lively spice, well balanced with savory fine tannins on a medium+ finish ending with mineral character. — 3 months ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. No formal notes due to the setting but yeah, this was pretty special from the beginning. I have long been a fan of Renato Ratti’s “Marscenasco” however Conca, the MGA for which they are most proud of, has been more modern in recent history, spending some time in French barrique (for the record, I lean traditionalist). On top of that, many 2009 Barolo’s have come across overblown to my palate. Yet this was sublime. Proving, once again that there is always something to learn. The fruit was 2009 powerful but balanced with acid and freshness. There was plenty tar and roses and all the tannin one should expect from Conca. Fabulous stuff. Drink now through 2044. — 7 months ago
Vivid clear, color and tight, concentrated fruit. Cherries and plums and juiciness. Very delicious, but also seem to fade very quickly and it’s flavor. Corked it for a day and a half and came back to something that was quite quickly on its way out and had become round and just grape juicy. Maybe that’s on me for leaving it. — 8 months ago
Wow, great wine. Tons of potential. I feel like it’ll be amazing at 10–15 years. Some huge tannin. Fruit is there tons of dust and earth and leather. Every type of cherry imaginable. Love it. — 2 days ago

Delicious. Smokey raspberry, medium bodied, dry finish, leathery with a whiff of pepper. Buy buy buy again! — 5 months ago
Clear, pale ruby to garnet in color; on the nose, it's clean with medium intensity primary aromas of raspberries, cherries, and roses; on the palate, it's dry with high acidity, high tannins, medium alcohol, full body and pronounced primary flavors of cherry syrup, strawberries, and clay pots with a long finish. This wine is balanced and complex. Overall, I rate this wine as very good. — 7 months ago
White peach, lemon zest and stone fruits on the nose. Medium sweet on entry, medium high acidity. Good finish. A lovely wine. — 8 months ago
Ruby in color with medium intensity and a wide reddish rim.
Light nose and medium in body with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing red and black fruits with light wood, tobacco leaf, bitter herbs, peppercorn, rhubarb, green tea, light vegetables, earth and chocolates.
Tangy finish with round tannins and raspberries.
This 5 year old Barbaresco is elegant with enough fruits to balance the earth notes. Tangy and spicy. Smooth and delicate.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly.
A good food wine that I paired with a Truffle Brie cheese.
100% Nebbiolo grapes were aged in large oak barrels for 18 months.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

These are recalled impressions, not contemporaneous notes, from two nights ago, when the family council of elders met for a steak/wine pairing event at my brother Angelo’s house.
I love this style of Brunello. Great balance of deep cherry fruit and terra cotta earthiness. Tannins resolving. Went especially well with the steak that was grilled with garlic and rosemary. — 7 months ago
2nd time I've had this. Every wine gets a higher score at Christmas. This is a stern Barolo, uptight after 4 hours of air. Yummy, though, and pleasant to sip slowly next to the fireplace. Cherry cola, raspberries, roses, serious leathery tannins. It's a 6 year old Barolo, and that's what it tastes like.

At first open, this on the nose has a distinct caramel/barrel(botti?),odor that my wife also noted as unique. ( we’ll try to remember exactly) Then i plopped it out for 2 plus hours and with lots of air, this bloomed into a savory, brownish leaning with red underpinnings Barolo cousin. Lighter indeed, but many of the same fruit and secondary notes are there. The tannins are very gentle, and with a meal lighter in heavy proteins it fits well. We had Tortilla Espanola,,Sardines, cheeses, veggies.
There’s something almost brandyesque here…teasing at it but rewarding, especially on the nose that sense of rusty red coming up from below.
Motalli is always very interesting, I’d like more acidity, but that’s trifling.
With Randy.
