Bought at the winery after tasting in 1999, my first pilgrimage to Coonawarra. Opened very stinky but blew off with air over 30 mins to beautiful fragrant nose and that sweet soft tannin of an aged Coonawarra Cabernet. Drank gloriously over the next two hours. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2023 pours a ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with an explosion of smoked blackberry pie, purple flowers, bacon fat, olive, black pepper, and subtle warm spices. On the palate the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose however, the wine finishes much more elegant than the nose would suggest. The bouquet might lead one to think this is possibly over the top. However, on the palate, it was far more elegant. Another vintage, another stunning Gonon. Drink now through 2043. — 11 days ago

Fruity nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries and chocolates notes.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with black currants, blackberries, plums, cooked cherries, tobacco leaf, herbs, caramel and black pepper.

Medium length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This young Grenache blend from California is drinking very nicely now. Nicely balanced and elegant. Complex and easy drinking.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with some airtime.

I used to love this wine years ago and haven't tried it in 5 years. It's not that exciting to me anymore, but still good.

A nice sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a burger.

A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Petite Sirah. Aged for 10 months in (30% new) French Oak barrels.
