Nice Chianti. A bit feral at first - 45 mins in the decanter and a slight chill bring things into more balance. Obviously could take more time in bottle but expressing pretty well overall even at this point. Has that great Radda lifting acid finish. Nice pairing with chicken scarpariello. — 20 days ago
In 1877, Illario and Leopoldo Ruffino laid the foundations of their dream to make Italian wines from the heart of Tuscany. Medium Ruby red color with aromas of dark berry fruit and earthy spice, blend of 80% Sangiovese with rest Merlot and Cab Sauv. On the palate flavors of black cherry and plum with tobacco, pepper and earthy cedar notes. Full-bodied, well balanced soft drying tannins on a smooth medium+ finish. Grab some Italian food and enjoy the great value wine. Consistent quality, a Fav!! — 2 months ago
Clear, medium ruby in color; on the nose, it's clean with pronounced primary and secondary aromas of cherries, roasted tomatoes, and black pepper; on the palate, it's dry with high acidity, high tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of strawberries, black cherries, and clay pots with a long finish. This wine is complex and intense. Overall, I rate this wine as outstanding. — 9 days ago
This bottled was purchased at the estate last year; double-decanted earlier in the day and enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 1982 “Il Poggio” Riserva pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and dried Morello cherry, red rope licorice, my grandmother’s attic, old leather bound books and dry, iron rich earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin (integrated) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with ferrous minerals. What a lovely, mature Riserva and killer with mushroom risotto. I wouldn’t worry about this dropping off a cliff anytime soon but this is ready to drink now through 2037+ — a month ago
Just a solid chianti Riserva, drank with NY pizza then again the next day after vacummed and store in fridge with pollo ala francese,. Was great both days. — 3 months ago
Paid €25 for a half bottle at L’Osteria di Giovanni. A nice Chianti Classico Reserva with a good full flavor. Would be nice to find in the United States at a reasonable price. I had a 2019 in January 2026. Just saw that this wine is available in the United States in the 750 ML bottle for $40 at wine Junction in Somerville. What a great price for a half bottle here in Italy at a restaurant. — 6 days ago
The 2017 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is incredibly polished and sophisticated. Silky tannins give the 2017 its racy, sleek personality. Over the last year, the 2017 Riserva has really settled into a gorgeous place. There is plenty of vintage 2017 intensity, but Rancia is distinctly medium in body and restrained. The wilder side of Sangiovese, one of the signatures of Rancia and Fèlsina. — 25 days ago
Deep Ruby with aromas of fresh ripe berry fruits, floral and slight spicy notes. Blend of 95% Sangiovese; 5% Canaiolo & Colorino, aged 24 months in oak. Fruit comes primarily from a small parcel of galestro-rich soils. On the palate cherry and black raspberry flavors, adding lovely floral notes, well balanced with acidity and fine tannins. The finish is long ending with slight earthy toasty minerality. Very Nice!! — 2 months ago
This up-front, fleshy Chianti is drinking really nicely right now. Pretty extroverted nose shows dark, macerated cherry, iodiney minerality, and a little loamy soil. In the mouth it’s pretty full, with a big whack of fruit initially, some tertiary notes developing and becoming apparent in the back half of the palate. Decent acids and still some soft tannin providing some scaffolding. I’d like a bit more linearity and persistence in the finish but for a ‘18 it’s darn nice. — 4 months ago

Great wine. So well balanced. Needed to be decanted. Fruit, leather, herbs. Great with food. — 7 days ago
