Château La Croix St. Estèphe

Château de Pez

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Franc Blend 2023

2023 vintage. More Cabernet Sauvignon (61 %) compared to Tronquoy 2023 tasted alongside, with 38% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc. More flowers ( it seems to me that somehow 2023 is the floral vintage), cassis, blackberries and a mineral touch (less pronounced compared to the Tronquoy). Elegant, ripe and juicy. — 8 days ago

Aromas of fresh red fruit, petrified, and a slight wood herb scent. Moderate acidity, heavy silky tannins, medium full body, flavors of wet slate, black pepper, and a hint of jammy red fruit — 3 months ago

Château Meyney

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Initially, this was a bit closed with fruit notes dominating, but after an hour long decant it opened up nicely. The nose has mostly cassis and herbal flavors, and on the palate, cassis, tobacco, bay leaf, dried sage, dark chocolate, and graphite notes come through nicely. Has good acidity, and tannins are well integrated. Super tasty and paired well with rosemary and thyme roasted rack of lamb with potatoes and eggplant. — 14 days ago

@Doug Powers this was my first. Really enjoyed it and glad I had it at a good spot in its drinking window. I’ve had some bad luck with young bordeauxs that were disappointing.

Delicious! Notice the score here v.s. the en primeur price of around 30€ at the time. And compare that to the grand vin of the same vintage that we also had on the table. Sure, the grand vin will develop and improve one or two points in the coming years, but today they were not that far apart! — 2 months ago
