Château Moulin De Bourg

Mickaël Bourg

Les P'tits Bouts Cornas Syrah 2016

Popped and poured into red Solo cups; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2016 “Les P’tits Bouts” pours a deep ruby/purple with an opaque core; medium viscosity with significant staining of the tears and signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of dark brambles, animale, purple flowers, black pepper, black olive brine, dried green herbs, a kiss of warm spices and inorganic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is the oldest example I’ve had the opportunity to enjoy from Mickeäl Bourg, thus far. If this bottle is any indication as to the age-ability of his wines, well then he is most certainly one of the heirs apparent to the continued greatness of Cornas. This was straight up awesome. It had the feral, rustic bit a that I want in but with an element of sophistication that brings immense pleasure. Tres bien! Drink now through 2041. — 11 days ago

@Somm David T the Northern Rhône might be my favorite region for red wine, in all of France. Have you experienced Mickeäl Bourg’s wines before?

Clos Rougeard

Le Bourg Saumur-Champigny Cabernet Franc 2018

This was as good as cab franc gets outside the right bank in Bordeaux. Very elegant, dense, mineral. Very very long in the mouth. Outstanding. — 4 months ago

Beautiful soft Burgundy red. But this Burgundy wine is darker than normal. Soft, gentle tannins. Juicy prune, soft fruit. Love this wine. — 4 months ago

Domaine Huet

Clos du Bourg Première Trie Moelleux Vouvray Chenin Blanc 1990

vintage 1990 | Deep dark mahogany colour, full of life at 36 years old, well balanced with a honey impression and currants smell. Nowhere cloying, France grandeur. Paired with a slow food Italian apple bread. — 6 months ago

Domaine Huet

Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2017

Always an excellent buy and always hard to resist opening young. Typical chenin nose of flint, ripe apple and wet wool, juicy and piquant on the palate, fruit forward with the stuffing to develop for eons — 7 months ago

Moulin Touchais

Coteaux du Layon Chenin Blanc 1985

Damn! It opened up with liquorice (sic.) and had just everything else in it. Mushrooms, turned earth, a touch of burnt honey and finally hiding just a hint of caramelized pineapple that lingers till the end. Sweetness only shows up for the grand finale in an jaw dropping show if how of how 95 g/l looks after 40 years — 4 months ago

Anyone who thinks Bojo does not age never tasted this wine. Beautiful aromas of dried black cherry, cranberry and smoke. My palate was assaulted with flavors of black & red cherries, cinnamon, spice and minerals. Plenty of acid despite the warm year. So obvious it was made by a Burgundy producer. A perfect cork helps. — 6 months ago

@Ira Schwartz I’m with you 💯. These wines are beautiful with 10-15 years of age and never seem to be running out of steam. I think the oldest vintage of the V.V. I currently have in my cellar is 2014 but I’m always in the lookout.

Château Moulin Riche

Saint Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Opened and aerated. Bouquet of dry dirt cherry! initial taste of dry dusty cherries. Middle of old world dryness. Finishes with the medium dryness of dusty grapes. A great French wine. — 7 months ago
