Clos Saint Georges L'Eglise Pomerol 2020, Bordeaux, France
It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim, and medium plus intensity.
On the nose red cherries, plums, red currants, light oak, chocolates and spices.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, light oak, chocolates, spices, coffee, licorice, light tobacco leaf, earth and herbs.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 5 year old Merlot blend from Pomerol feels very young and not showing its age at all. Fruit forward with nice complexity and good balance. Elegant with good structure.
Starting to drink nicely now, and needs a few more years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of airtime, when the tannins show up and bring more structure. Spicy and entertaining.
Good by itself or with food.
A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Aged in used French oak barrels for 12 months.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

Interesting CDP that is 100% Grenache. Bright black cherry/plum/berry fruit aromas and flavors with touches of minerals, earth and saline. Bold structure but bright and lively. Extremely fruit forward. Great balance of tannin and acidity. Pleasant, even in its youthful state. Gift from Kase! — 5 years ago
Golden thick-legged well-balanced chard with characteristic nose and palate, both including apple, pear, nectarine, and lemon with hints of butter and cream on a medium finish. Good way to get familiar with the varietal. Probably would go well with meaty white fish or mild tasting veg in a sauce of light butter or olive oil. — 5 years ago

Amongst the rarest elixirs I’ve ever had the privilege to try. “Une Chartreuse” is so scarce, many Chartreuse lovers don’t even know it exists. They make a yellow and a green and this is the only bottle I’ve seen of either. Perfect as far as I’m concerned. — 7 months ago

Pick this wine up from Costco at a very decent price and I was very satisfied. I drank this over three days and I want to say the second day was the best. It was definitely fruit-forward, full-bodied, and some pepper at the end. Not big on wines with pepper but this one did not disappoint and I would definitely buy again. — 6 years ago
The wood from Vat 147 smoothes this out and gives it a brandy feel. Less heat, more herbs and sweetness. — 9 months ago
First go round with this baddie. Tasted side by side with the L. Garnier Liqueur Fabriquée Par Les Pères Chartreux (9.8). Occupying a beautiful and necessary niche space between the Les Pères Chartreux and your standard yellow or green Chartreuse (9.3/9.5 respectively). This one is yellow and adds more honeycomb/beeswax along with increased intensity to the equation. Worth the pursuit. 8.25.25. — 10 months ago

This is the high end yellow Chartreuse. Slightly sweeter than the high end green Chartreuse (9.8) and with different complexities. Still phenomenal and worth tasting/seeking out. Will likely last us around 3.5-4 months. 1 liter sized bottle. Time to start shopping for another bottle. 6.12.26. — 22 days ago
