This was fascinating, but ultimately was not a wine I liked. Sure the nose was complex with notes of sous bois, incense, prunes, dried roses, soya sauce, and touch of musk, but the palate proved to be less digestible for me. I believe it was the combination of rather rough tannins, heavy earthiness, and a hint of discernible volatile acidity that didn’t quite work. Possibly in a dumb phase or even a little compromised by less-than-ideal storage (fruit profile does feel a touch advanced and some orange hues observed). Notably, my fellow lunchers seemed to enjoy the wine. — 4 years ago
Had this on Sunday with Roast Pork which was a great match. 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% other varieties. Plum, raspberry and garrigue. Prior notes indicated notes of Brett. This bottle might have a small influence but a long way off bandaid and down the sink. I think I was influenced by my fellow judges at the Toowoomba Wine Show judges dinner last year - some of whom delight in picking the smallest shred of Brett and declare the wine blacklisted. I would hate to be a Somm serving these chaps. — 5 years ago
It is Thursday night the eve before the start of another weekend. I have opened the 2018 Patricia Green Cellar Durant Vineyard Madrone Block Pinot Noir. This is a beautifully balanced pinot noir from the Dundee Hills of the Willamette Valley of Oregon.
The nose brings out notes of cherry, raspberry, floral notes, sassafras, vanilla, cola, clove and baking spices.
Onnthe palate there is cherry, raspberry, cranberry, spice, vanilla, herbs, hibiscus and forest floor.
This wine is a beautiful expression of Pinot Noir that is beautifully well balanced and is medium bodied with medium + acidity and medium fine tannins that lead into a medium to long red fruit finish. Here we are on the eve before the start of another weekend and we need to look within to see how we want to proceed in life? Do we want to try and make something out of our life and do right with our fellow man or proceed with the status quo and not make a mark on this world.i hope we all want to make a difference and try and lift one another up. Let try and support one another and see above the hate and discontent. Please be kind to one another and be healthy and safe so we can all make this a better place. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 6 years ago
Calling this fellow Bruno bc he is the sweetest Brut I’ve ever met. Only in Portugal! — 7 years ago
The 2016 Couvent des Jacobins starts to deliver, even if it is nowhere near its peak. Long time in the shadow of the excellent 2015, it shows now that it is in the same league. Totally outperforming fellow Cru Classé Château Laroze 2016 tasted alongside, with more depth and freshness. — 2 years ago
Smells and looks exactly like a good Langhe. Brick red with aromas of dried cherry, menthol, mint and other herbs. Medium weight palate - M plus tannins; M plus acid - typical again. As good as anything I’ve had as a Rosso from Piedmont. Myself and fellow judges made this the Grand Champion of the Toowoomba Wine Show in 2019. Also Trophy, best other variety red, 2018 Adelaide Hills Wine Show. Have written previously about Steve Pannell’s expertise with alternative varieties. — 4 years ago
Can’t recall why I ever stopped buying this, as it’s amazing!! Another example of fellow Americans drinking their wines too young.
Medium gold color. One of the best Chard noses ever! Reminds me of high end white burgundies! Wine is well balanced between butter and citrus. Could use more depth and a longer finish, but awesome on a lovely Memorial Day!! — 5 years ago
Leather and earth. Medium body. To quote a fellow wine dude it drinks like a feral Beaujolais — 5 years ago
Light tannic wine with a sharp cherry finish. Nice pairing with our handmade pasta dishes. Delighted to run into a fellow Nebraskan in the restaurant. — 7 years ago
At an old school mate and fellow Pinot nut up at Maroochydore. Never had an aged Ata Rangi before and it was marvellous. Thanks John! Always one of the best Pinots in New Zealand, at 10 years it has dropped a lot of the aromatic red fruits of its youth and become much more Burgundian with savoury earthy mushroom and compost heap nuances. A beautiful wine. — 7 years ago
Promising BDX fellow! — 3 years ago
Naughty little syrup - literally roaming in the barrel. Perfect with large small plates and fellow Vikings — 4 years ago

2019 vintage. Another great value from this Listrac estate. Dark red. Black fruit, less oaky compared to the 2018. Good concentration, a more extracted style compared to fellow Cru Bourgeois Supérieur Lilian Ladouys 2019 (Saint-Estephe) tasted alongside, but excellent value at 11(!) euros. — 5 years ago
Wanha uskollinen. Reliable old fellow. — 6 years ago
NV. Rich and brioche-y. Fig, poached pear, baked yellow apple, brioche, lemon zest. Moderately autolytic. Drink 'em up. Special toast to fellow retailers and other support folk during these strange times! Salud! — 6 years ago
Scent of blackberries and very oaky, deep red color, full bodied and fruity, smooth with lasting finish. Long fellow never disappoints. — 7 years ago

vintage 2020 | Fellow tasters ‘complained’ about the smoothness of the wine. Vibrant, refined. Lovebaby of two famous houses. — 2 months ago
