Still youthful color, the Merlot in this Merlot-dominant Bordeaux is still moderately rich and youthful, solid tannic structure, lingering finish, I’d guess this will cellar for at least five more years. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2005 pours a garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of cassis, black plum, capsicum, tobacco, horse blanket, gravelly earth, and a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and elegant. Drink now through 2055. — 2 months ago

No notes. Bottle offered to my friend and kept since then, again for a decade or more. Superb currently, can be kept for another 5 to 7 years easily. Cassis, oak and firm tannins, strong acid drive, tar and cigar on the nose. Great stuff ! — 3 months ago

Delectable seems to be having troubles again. This wine is so young, I let it breathe for an hour while I prepped dinner, and it was still pretty tight. After dinner it began to open up with bright red fruit and a hint of florals on the nose. Also some faint brett.
Flavors include tart strawberries, blueberries, cedar and pipe tobacco. Nice, long ending. Not very complex, but well structured and delicious. And a great value!

2020 was the last vintage produced under Groupama ownership, as the estate was sold in April 2021 to Gerald Jicquel (the Beautiful Life Group , that also owns Fourcas-Dupré). While it is an attractive, smooth Haut-Médoc, it lacks a bit of concentration, especially if compared to some of its peers in this great vintage ( like the Barreyres 2020 I've tasted yesterday).
