It’s been 16 months since last bottle of this Gargiulo G Major 7. One of my early Napa favorites. Fruit is ripe and bountiful, dark red and black. Very nicely balanced, acidity is very much holding its own, tannins are soft yet still structured. Gravely, vanilla, licorice, pencil shavings. Nice finish. Looks like a nice Columbia Valley Cab. Dark color. Heady and dense nose. Maybe a herbal and earthy streak in with the plum sauce on the nose. Flavors are chewy and vicious. Horehound meets berry cobbler and a bit of flint. Plenty bittersweet like a good Cab should be. Has a big style, but holds a bit of elegance as well. Even more fantastic than the previous bottle of 2010 I enjoyed a year ago. Decanted and enjoyed over 7 hours. This was good from first pour but became great and then magnificent over the next 3.5 and 7 hours. It was still full of verve on the last sip! Early only it was more dark fruit but over time the wines softened and became a bit sweeter and rounder. Tremendous length and complexity. — 25 days ago
