The king of blaüfrankisch at W. Full bldied, intense old vines representation. — 4 months ago
This is quite youthful and seems on the natty side, but not too much so. Also seems like it was deliberately picked on the not-quite-ripe side. The nose is super-bright, with crunchy little purple mountain berries and pink peppercorns. A bit of cured beef too. In the mouth, the acids are through the roof, overriding some nice, crisp, dark berry flavors. There is a bare hint of barnyard funk too. Very nice length. Overall it’s got a lot of character but seems a little disjointed. Picking a tad riper may have made a better wine, but it wouldn’t have made a “statement,” which I think was what was primarily behind this wine. — 7 months ago

Have not had in 4 years and as brilliant as ever. Unreal freshness and acid. Lush, rich, energetic and long. Nose is a stunning perfume of slate, green apple and wet earth plus citrus. 9.9 nose. So juicy, decadent, honeyed and refreshing. So so insane. — 3 months ago
Very dense and big! Could go for another 10-15 years. I like Ziereisen wines and met him. Yet i prefer more elegant renditions. Quite dark. Cherry, blackberry, lime, cherry. Super complex. Plenty of acids. If you have this in your cellar you are in for a treat. Ziereisen is a little bit full of himself rightfully so but still - i prefer the humble. — 6 months ago

Vintage 2017 | Amazing how fresh the Franken Silvaner stays after bottle and cellar years. Honeymelon and citrus in smell, minerality in taste, crisp and fresh. Almonds in aftertaste. Paired with Thai Pad Kra Pao from tofu. | second day with sole and asparagus, very adequate. — 15 days ago
