North of my typical price point, this was quite expressive for a cab. Robust fruit flavor, yet smooth. Other bottles suit my palate better. — 4 months ago

First, cheers to Delectable working again after two weeks on the fritz.
This is our kickoff to the Memorial Day weekend. Hope everyone has a good one on tap with some of your favorite wines. So, happy Memorial Day weekend all!
Then, a garden update. We really enjoy watching it grow. You can see it daily.
The top pictures were taken May 1st. The bottom pictures are from today, May 21st. All that crazy growth in just 20 days. Amazing!!! 🍅 🌱🥬🥒🌽
As for the Ruinart, it is appreciable better using my new Riedel Vintage Sommelier Champange flute. Well worth the investment. These are a late birthday gift from our friends James & Christina. Thank you. The nose & palate much more vibrant. More on that as the weekend progresses. Cheers!🥂 — 6 years ago

Yet another outstanding vintage (2020) of this consistently excellent Co-Op produced Barbaresco. Aromas of red fruit, dried rose petals and anise. Flavors of bright red cherry and raspberry fruit, mint, Asian spices, minerals and orange zest. Long and earthy/smoky finish. Fantastic balance, structure and depth. Fine grained tannins and a silky texture yet still firm and powerful. So delicious now, but built to age for at least another decade. The quality consistency of this wine vintage to vintage is incredible. Outstanding value! Thanks so much for opening this one, Keith S! Happy 60th Birthday, Karyn! — 3 months ago
End of the fiscal year. Long one but a good one so this is an exhausted versus drown sorrows drink ;) Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2024 (12 Year, 107 proof)
Nose is surprisingly light for the proof. Soft sweetness, light oak, and a hint of rye spice.
On the palate it isn’t heavy, but it fills the whole mouth. The heat shows early and stays present, reading higher than 107. Sweetness is there but restrained. More spice builds with time, rye-forward and focused on the tip and top of the tongue, with some grip on the cheeks. Oak stays light rather than deep or dusty.
Bit hotter than I’m feeling I want tonight. — 5 months ago
Celebrating my Birthday last night with Roast Lamb. This was a deep crimson in colour - very dark for its age. Aromatics of blackberry, plum, mulberry and mocha. The palate is very Penfolds - black fruits, mocha and chocolate. Opulence and concentration are the key words. Never ponderous or over bearing. Palate staining intensity yet medium to full bodied weight. Great palate length and persistence finishing with supple seamless tannins. At least another 20 years in the drinking window - Penfolds say through to 2055!! Overall - one of the world’s great red wines in a superb vintage. — 8 months ago

Cocoa, strawberry, currant, vanilla, tar, cedar, wet forest soil, a lot of things happen. It's showing a bit of age but certainly not as much as the label shows. The palate is showing a strong acid backbone and this is quite striking here. It must be because of the vintage though. Nice strawberry, currant fruit all along, good width with a thin matter which lays a layer of silk all over the mouth. In mid palate come some rather well integrated tannins, bringing in some energy by disrupting slightly that very silky mouthfeel with a dusty touch. The finish is very long with fruit, vanilla, cocoa and maybe even mocha. Perhaps not the best Pichon Lalande but a very good take on a tough vintage which is still relevant and delivering to this day.
29 years old and kicking! We served it along with a slow cooked lamb leg and beans (traditional Easter meal in my region) and this was a perfect match. Celebrating wifey's birthday in style! — 5 years ago

This makes a great birthday wine for so many reasons. Full and smooth. Sweeter than I want but whatever. — 3 months ago

2014. Enjoyed a small splash at the end of a great birthday meal at The Oven!
Such pure stone fruit and honeyed aromas and flavors with balanced sweetness and acidity. — a month ago
