First sentence is a tester. Now the full note. We don’t often have Grand Cru Burgundy but we had roast duck legs on Mother’s Day. An intensity to the nose - Sous Bois/Compost heap with savoury red fruits - smoky with a hint of pepper. Many of the experts are saying a high influence of stems in the ferment is apparent and I totally agree. Interestingly Richard Hemming MW gave the wine 19.5/20 and said “This is what all the Burgundy fuss is all about.” Continuing to evaluate - this wine has a beautiful nose (very Morey one taster said). In summary a magnificent wine with great persistence. One of the 1001 Wines. Clos des Lambrays can trace its history back to the 14th century. — a month ago

Certainly not as rare as the Ponsot’s Clos des Monts Luisants, but as soon as I saw this on the wine list at reasonable price, I knew this was what I wanted to order.

The nose opens with lemon oil, white peach, crushed stones, and subtle hazelnut. The palate is supple yet lively, with vibrant acidity framing ripe orchard fruit and a cool, chalk-driven core. A faint floral note and gentle oak spice add complexity. Elegant with refined balance. — 7 months ago

1986 vintage. Intoxicating perfume of crushed strawberries and sweet roses at the height of the bloom. Profound with layered fruit and velvety tannin, delicate and concentrated at the same time. Very long. An amazing effort for the vintage, that in Decanter is described as "a large crop of indifferent quality with poor concentration". Highly recommended. — 4 years ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2017 “Les Saint Georges” pours a deep ruby color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with gorgeous notes of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, pomegranate, red flowers, sous bois, mushroom, and exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. The nose alone is worthy of songs. Bright ruby garnet with quite narrow garnet rim . Quite closed at first with mineral , cassis , sous bois , cigar box , touch of smoke . On the palate very intense with lots of cigar box tinged cassis , blackberry , cedar , coffee. Gritty but integrated tannins , fresh acidity . Very long and complex on the finish . This is still young but is starting to show what it can do , perfectly balanced and enormously long . Precise and for Las Cases very elegant . Now and for the next 10-15 years . — 2 years ago
