Donnachadh Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023

This is a bigger wine than I remember. More brawny. A lot of baking spice and also spices in general. Almost a cumin component. There’s a lot of fruit but it is richer and darker cherry and berry. I’m guessing this will integrate better over time. — a month ago

667/115 Clones Donnachadh Vineyard, Blocks 3A and 3B Pinot Noir 2021

Totally unfamiliar with the producer. Somm dropped a glass off at my table, “Try”
Aromatically appealing with scents of cinnamon., cherry and clearly some whole cluster. All followed thru to the palate along with lots of spice and some black tea like tannin. Very nice wine but would consume over the next 2 years.

Château Troplong Mondot

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Showing brilliantly, ripe plum but elegant as well and seamless. It made the 1989 LLC seem a little clumsy in comparison. — a year ago

Kongsgaard

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

2005 vintage. Decanted and tasted over the course of two hours. Good fill, great cork. Perfect picture show sed. Vibrant color and nose. A modicum of richness up front initially but not to return. Medium body dropped down to light medium body. Thinning out meant slightly more acidity. That wasn't exactly undesirable. Currently tasting like a Napa version of LLC St. Julien (non-mountain terroir lean and mean). As it stands, will hold fast in this presentation for another 5 years. Not improving and feel it's goin' south after that 5-spot. 12.10.23. — 3 years ago

Château Belair

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 1955

Night two at Bern’s. A backup bottle to replace the 1907 LLC that had a flaw. Went with this choice for its high shoulder fill and great color. Light tawny reddish color. Clear rims with a deep color center in the glass. Fruit forward nose with notes of black and red fruit, some earth and some wood. With air it opened like the others. Decent structure. Good balance. Nice, solid wine for its age but nothing dramatic or exciting. — 3 years ago

Northern rhone, cool climate California. Earth, blood, strawberries, boysenberry, menthol, rock. Very good with food. So different from Zaca Mesa I had last night. I like both for different reasons. — 2 years ago

Awesome! Dark fruits, baking spices, black pepper, cherry, bitter chocolate, and overall tartness that brings you back. Definitely has some years ahead but wow is this good. — 3 years ago

Ch Washington State Chardonnay 2019

Medium straw color; smells like yellow apple and maybe jasmine on the nose; medium acidity; tastes like star fruit, saline, and a hint of butter with a long finish. I'm really enjoying the minerality. — 3 years ago

Merlot Vineyard Collection Stoneridge Vineyard 2014

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Dry on the palate and fruit forward.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Showing plums, cherries, light oak, licorice, spices, tobacco, herbs, earth, light vanilla and chocolates.

Medium finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a delicious Single Vineyard Merlot from Washington State. Soft and elegant with nice complexity.

Another delicious wine by Charles Smith. Peaking now. Tangy and interesting.

Robert Parker 94 points.

Better right out of the bottle. Lost some oomph after decanting it for 90 minutes.

Good by itself or with food.

100% Merlot grapes were aged for 21 months in (50% new) French Oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$45.

Still great. I was wondering if it would hold 10 years after release, and it’s a hint more rusty, but the flavor has even more of that complex ‘old-wine’ stuff in it. — 2 years ago
