Well i think the 2010 vintage was a bust but this 2012 is stellar. A cellar find - i cleaned up - did bring it to a party were - i am sorry to say / the “clowns” (except the host) did not get what was in front of them so 1/3 of the bottle was left behind. Bottle 343 out of 450. Super earthy and big. Just 13% more a steak pinot - than a salmon one. Tea leaves, dark fruit, iodine, lime. Will put this under Argon and drink the rest tomorrow! — 2 months ago
German Syrah? Global warming at its finest - Ziereisen is just a genius. Second and last bottle. Cote Rotie like. Could go for another 6 years or so. 13%. Dark and brooding. Hint cherry, touch blueberry, lime - very astringent. I can’t really top Lyle Fass’s notes. Needs about 6-12 hours of air. Grown on limestone close to the swiss and french borders „dreiländereck“ in Baden one of the most interesting wine regions out there. No funk here - clean! — 7 days ago
Well I kind of trashed this wine with a 9.1 - 9.2 upon opening. As mentioned corks are shot drink up. But as this stayed under my Argon line for a good week it came around. Cannot beat the Buntsandstein. But still really a hell of a wine and a showcase for German Pinot. Cherry 🍒 nose, crushed stone. Touch cedar. Herbs. This is like Burghs used to be decades ago / the wine maker took a hell of a risk. — 16 days ago
2009 vintage. Brought by and cracked with @Pinotman /// Andreas. Slightly plush with restrained berry tones. Harmonious and comfortable. Chilled down a spell and and flecks of earthiness appeared on the borders of the palate. Tasted immediately after opening, 15 mins, 45 minutes and 3 hours later. Picked up a 3-5 year old Côte-Rôtie flavor profile on the last sampling. Smoked meats, dirt, iron, slight plum reduction. This was phenomenal. Thank you, @Pinotman /// Andreas! — 17 days ago

Better when drunken at lower temperature

This is backwards out of the gates but it’s all there. Huge density, power and concentration while remaining fresh and incisive. Needs an hour and I will be back. Needed way more than an hour. Still on day 2 this is dense and sinewy. Really structured but so fresh. Acts like high end Crozes or baby Hermitage. On day 3 this has finally come around! Like the 18 and 15! Unreal aromas and so expansive. Sweet, dense and long 9.4 to 9.5. But it was like pushing a boulder up a cliff. — 3 months ago

What a glorious vintage of this wine. Nose is rich and floral but also has a dense shape that you can really smell. Like a trapezoid. Unreal minerals, some hints of weird citrus like tangelo, kumquat, pink grapefruit but also melon, spice, and so much more. Insanely complex. Stunning! 9.7 nose. Palate is just instant devastation. Rich, juicy and bursting with citrus and apricot fruit and so so pure. Unreal salinity, sapidity and density. Coats the palate. So long and satin-like texture. Unreal fruit here and there is a ripe sweetness here that is very uncommon for this wine but takes it to the next level. Genius! — 2 days ago
