Tre Vigne Dolcetto d'Alba 2022

Some blackberry, Smokey notes, so soft in the mouth. Went very well with risotto and sausage. I have to think that’s the pairing in Piedmont for most people. The average Italian there ain’t drinking Barbaresco every night. — 20 days ago

Palumbo

Selezione Speciale Tre Terzi 2023

Had the 2023 in January of 2025. First sip out of the glass was strange. Kind of sour fruit, butter and wood. Gave it time to breathe and swirled in the glass and then it was really good. Light fruits- dark cherry and blackberry. Hints of wood and leather in the finish. I always tend to jump right in. Have a decanter but don’t always head to it based on other people’s comments, I probably should have! But time in the glass was kind. Was a very interesting wine that I would love to have again. — 4 months ago

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Rosso Merlot Blend 2015

Bordeaux style blend of Merlot (64%), Cabernet Sauvignon (17%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Petite Verdot (9%). Dark ruby/purple color with a garnet rim. Aromas of dark berry fruit, graphite and dusty earth. Flavors of blackberry, black cherry, ripe plums, kirsch, black licorice and iron. Full bodied, long finish and intensely structured. Beautifully integrated acidity and tannins. Great combination of power and elegance. — a month ago

Poderi Aldo Conterno

Conca Tre Pile Barbera d'Alba 2021

2021 vintage. A bit of everything. Esteemed producer. Excellent nose. Front-palate richness. Mid-palate power and presence. Pleasantly astringent and beyond substantial finish. I usually eschew Barbera d'Alba for the resto list but couldn't deny this one. Picked up two cases and may pick up more to have laying around for 1.5-2 years. At the ridiculous resto price of $26.67, I can't afford not to. So delicious. 01.29.25. — 3 months ago
