Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2008 pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of passion fruit, green apple, marzipan, light brioche, lemon curd, and chalk for dayzzzz. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and textural; leezy. I’m smitten. Lovely stuff. Drink now through 2048. Disgorged April 2022. — 5 months ago

Happy Twelve Days After My Birthday to me. I rarely see but always cherish wines from Henri Boillot. This Bourgogne outclasses the majority of village whites. Tastes and smells like a top quality Meursault to me, though I understand other villages contribute to the blend. Hazelnut, oatmeal, a little lemon oil, gorgeous fruit. Crisp in the mouth, with excellent buoyant acids and nice persistence. Yum. My rating might be a little generous because I’m happy to be drinking this! — 8 months ago

Initially strong sulphidic aromas of the struck match variety. A mineral chalky streak on the palate with grilled nuts, citrus and a little white peach. Medium plus palate length and another great effort, particularly for a Village wine, from the “enfant terrible” of Burgundy, Henri Boillot. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) and Merlot (30%). Dark ruby color with a slight garnet/orange rim. Wine was quite tight upon opening so aeration was needed. Aromas of black fruit, graphite and purple flowers. Flavors of black cherry, blackberry, plums, black olives and tobacco. Distinct oaky note on the long and somewhat sharp finish. Medium-plus body and acidity. Balance was a bit off. Probably should have aged this one a bit longer. — 9 months ago
