Maybe Jura is just not my thing… tastes like a wine-y beer with hazy red fruit (fruit punch, cranberry juice) flavors that seem more “random,” less refined. — 2 months ago

D.D. Arbois Poulsard Blend 2023

All of the varietals come through but ultimately this is defined by its Pinot Noir polish and elegance. Light-bodied but with lively complexity of red fruit, spice and mineral. — 5 months ago

Lagavulin Distillery

Aged 16 Years Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Apparently one of the oldest Distillery sites in Scotland. Located by the sea on the Isle of Islay this receives the slowest distillation of any Islay malt, then spends 16 years in old oak casks before being bottled. This is very pungent, peaty and smoky. One of my favourite single malts. — 24 days ago

Bob,
You should go to Islay. Lagavulin and Laphroaig and are only a couple of km down the road from each other
It’s a long way from Australia…I don’t want to imagine the flight connects.

@Jamie Lauder Thanks Jamie. I love Laphroaig as well - a toss up which is the most peaty. I’ve visited Talisker on the Isle of Skye which is the spiritual home of the Clan Donald (McDonald). Also had a tour of Glenmorangie over on the east coast.

Les Grands Vergers Arbois Trousseau 2023

Interesting palette not sure I ever tasted such an herbal wine before. Nose: cherry, orange? Taste: cherry, rhubarb, unidentified herb? Definitely a new try but very interesting and I did enjoy. — a month ago

Côtes du Jura Poulsard Blend 2020

Brilliant wine. So fresh, tart berries, bright flowers, stone, some herbs, mouth watering acidity from fruit flavors, apple, berries, cherries, hint of tropical fruit. So good with food. So good on its own. This is how I remember more Beaujolais tasting 10-15 years ago. — 3 months ago
