Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2024

My first ‘24 Bojo. Lots of granite and dark black cherry in the nose. Classic. The palate is very mineral and fresh. Crisp acids. Very nice! — 16 days ago

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2021

If you fancy a bit of butter then this one might be right up your alley. It's not a butter bomb though, and it's pretty well made. The nose is buttery but shows as well nice lemony and oaky notes. The palate shows some good acid drive, and that acid drive is what makes it a great tasting experience, actually. Nice buttery touches and texture all along, some nice lemony notes, a bit of grip in the rear. It's quite wide and ample but not as thick as what I was expecting. The finish is not very long and shows some oaky notes that make a come back, among other buttery and lemony notes. It's well made, clearly overpriced here (they ask for 50+ USD in equivalent local currency before discount) but it's a nice, enjoyable pour even on its own. — 2 months ago

Spot on! Great tasting description, I had this one on previous vintages at the winery (before was renovated) and I was also pleased it was the traditional butter bum you get here in California.

I agree Freddy, it's reasonably buttery.

Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Post dinner party notes. Third bottle I’ve had of this and by far the best yet. Amazing. Such a complex nose, with roasted herbal notes, dark spicy fruit, earthy mineral iodine notes Tannins just about completely resolved. Length and depth for days. Wow. — 19 days ago

Interesting. I might have this wine as well. I seem to recall it was so super oaky, couldn’t taste anything. Glad to read that it became more balanced.

Hébrart Special Club 2021 is exactly why hard Champagne vintages can be so compelling. Frost, hail, all the usual misery, and yet this wine came out nervy, precise and alive. No big ripe-year swagger here. — a month ago

Next you're gonna tell us you caught the Sturgeon on a fly rod!

@Dave, interestingly enough, Sacramento lies at the confluence of two rivers — American and Sacramento — in the area north of downtown Sacramento, there are weirs/causeways that handle flood problems (rant: because we Californians allow most of our excess rainfall to flow into the Pacific). Anyway, sturgeon, which is farm-raised around here, is big business in this area, I *believe” it produces more U.S, caviar than any other state. And the thing with farm-raised sturgeon — they are HUGE (50+ pounds) — so the local fish markets occasionally have it, very rich flavors!!

So, NO fly rods were involved, I generally hate fishing!! 🤷🤷

That is a neat story, but the fly rod would have been neater!
