Château Fombrauge Saint-Èmilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

Surprising amount of energy and lift for a wine of this type, still full bodied but leans more towards a medium red than heavy. Very soft tannins, blackberry forward with some plum, blueberry, a bit of raspberry & floral notes and cedar — 4 months ago

@Jan A, just a question — when you talk about it being better in a Day 3, are you using anything to preserve it (Coravin, etc.?), or just “cork back in the bottle and leave it on the counter”, or ??? Just curious, asking only from a personal calibration standpoint!! Thanks in advance!! 🍷🍷

Hi Doug, I drank a couple of glasses on day one, put the corck back on and put it in the fridge at 4 degrees celcius. Had a dinner party at friends on day two (didn't drink any of this wine) and came back to it on day three. Still standing fierce. Just a softer, opened up version of the youngish wine on day one. Very well made and a very good qpr.

Thanks for the feedback @Jan A -a your method is what I used to do, we rarely have much left over, so I usually don’t worry as much about oxidation in the leftover bottle!! 🤔🤷😂🍷

Domaine Bernard Gripa

St. Joseph Syrah 2019

Decided to try one of these guys. Somewhat surprised - more accessible and quite a bit glossier than I was expecting. The 14.5% is well balanced with great acid. Nice deep berry fruit but perhaps doesn’t have as much of those characteristic St. Joseph briny, earthy, olivey, somewhat rustic notes as expected. Nice pairing with shepherd’s pie made from leftovers from Christmas. — 3 months ago

Hermitage Syrah 2014

Amazing Syrah. Earth, leather, tar, smooth tannins, long finish, blackberry, accompanied by a powerful nose. Ready to drink without decanting. This is the gold capsule version. Worth its $95 price tag. — a month ago

Coteau de Rosette Chablis Chardonnay 2018

Pale lemon/gold color with aromas of citrus, stone fruits, floral and slight oxidative notes. On the palate flavors of ripe apple, apricot and lemon citrus with notes of white flowers and spice. Medium+ finish, vivid acidity ending with fruit and oxidative mineral character. — 2 months ago
